- Cardiometabolic Assessment in Patients with Overweight, Obesity, or Type 2 Diabetes Undergoing Artificial Intelligence-Based Retinal Screening: A Real-World Evidence Study. [Journal Article]Metab Syndr Relat Disord. 2026 Oct 12; :15578518261496129. [Online ahead of print]MS
- Background: Overweight, obesity, and type 2 diabetes (T2DM) increase the risk of vascular complications, including retinal vascular alterations. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based retinal screening enables early detection of microvascular damage, potentially contributing to appropriate cardiometabolic prevention strategies. We performed a realworld evidence observational study to assess cardiomet…

- Triglyceride-Glucose Index and 10-Year Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk: Associations of Obesity-Related Indices in Two Nationally Representative Populations. [Journal Article]Metab Syndr Relat Disord. 2026 Oct 09; :15578518261496117. [Online ahead of print]MS
- CONCLUSIONS: TyG-related indices were significantly associated with 10-year ASCVD risk across Chinese and U.S. populations, although the strength of these associations varied between populations. TyG-WC may provide additional value for ASCVD risk assessment. Further longitudinal studies are warranted to validate these findings and clarify the underlying mechanisms.

- CONCLUSIONS: In this nationally representative two-stage study, SUA was independently associated with MASLD prevalence and all-cause mortality among adults with MASLD. SUA may represent an accessible adjunctive marker of metabolic risk and prognosis in MASLD, although further longitudinal and mechanistic studies are needed to clarify causality and clinical utility.Prospectively Registered Protocol:https://osf.io/khe3u.

- Circulating Anti-Müllerian Hormone, Activins, Inhibins, and Follistatin in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Idiopathic Hirsutism: A Case-Control Study. [Journal Article]Metab Syndr Relat Disord. 2026 Oct 08; :15578518261495359. [Online ahead of print]MS
- CONCLUSIONS: Women with PCOS exhibited altered serum levels of AMH, inhibins, follistatin, and activin A compared with controls. AMH levels were higher in PCOS than in IH, whereas inhibin A and inhibin B levels were elevated in both PCOS and IH. These findings suggest that these hormones are associated with the endocrine profile of PCOS and IH and may contribute to the characterization of hyperandrogenic conditions.

- Serum Iron as a Key Predictor of Diabetes Risk: Findings from 13 Cities in Saudi Arabia. [Journal Article]Metab Syndr Relat Disord. 2026 Sep 21; :15578518261479845. [Online ahead of print]MS
- Diabetes mellitus represents a major public health challenge in Saudi Arabia. This study investigated the associations of gender, age, body mass index (BMI), and serum iron levels with diabetes risk across 13 Saudi cities and developed a machine-learning model for diabetes prediction. Data from 49,259 individuals were obtained from Al Borg Laboratories for the period 2015-2023. Descriptive statis…

- CONCLUSIONS: These findings support the potential use of these immunometabolic indices as complementary tools for identifying young adults with a higher cardiometabolic risk profile and high central adiposity.

- CONCLUSIONS: AIP is a powerful and clinically practical marker for identifying AD, demonstrating superior and consistent performance compared with non-HDL-C across different clinical subgroups. Thyroid-related and hematological findings should be interpreted as exploratory rather than causal or biologically independent effects. Prospective multicenter studies are needed to validate generalizable AIP cutoff values and assess its added value beyond conventional lipid markers.

- Uric Acid and Grip Strength as Predictors of Mortality in Older Adults: A Sex-Stratified Analysis. [Journal Article]Metab Syndr Relat Disord. 2026 Sep 15; :15578518261488223. [Online ahead of print]MS
- CONCLUSIONS: Both diminished grip strength and elevated UA levels are associated with increased mortality in older adults, particularly among females. Routine incorporation of sex-specific metabolic and physical performance assessments may enhance risk stratification strategies in geriatric populations.

- Prediction of All-Cause Mortality by Obesity Metabolic Phenotypes: A Waist Circumference-Driven Risk Stratification Study. [Journal Article]Metab Syndr Relat Disord. 2026 Nov; 24(9):395-405.MS
- CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, WC is a superior predictor of all-cause mortality to BMI, particularly in men. The MHO phenotype is not uniformly benign, especially when defined by central adiposity. Therefore, we recommend risk stratification based on WC, metabolic status, age, and sex.

- CONCLUSIONS: In the middle-aged and elderly MASLD population, the High trajectory, higher cumulative exposure, and higher baseline levels of the VLR index are all independently associated with the risk of incident CMM. Compared with a single baseline measurement, dynamic and cumulative VLR provide more complete metabolic risk information, which can be used for long-term risk stratification in the MASLD population.
