  • Systematic Review of Patient- and Observer-Reported Outcomes of Fatigue in Pediatric Neuromuscular Disorders. [Review]
Muscle Nerve. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]Marzouk M, Cornett KMD, … McKay MJMN
  • Fatigue is a burdensome symptom for pediatric populations with neuromuscular disorders, often assessed using patient- and observer-reported outcomes. The three aims of this systematic review are to: (1) explore, summarize and critically appraise primary studies that measure fatigue in pediatric neuromuscular disorders using patient- and observer-reported outcomes; (2) compare definitions of fatig…
  • The Two-Dimensional Framework of Nerve Injury. [Journal Article]
Muscle Nerve. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]Jorgensen SP, Hearn SL, … Robinson LRMN
  • Classifying nerve injury severity is essential for communication, prognosis, and treatment decisions. Traditional classification systems (Seddon, Sunderland) cannot account for the full spectrum of nerve pathology, from familiar phenomena such as local anesthetics to recently discovered autoimmune nodopathies. A two-dimensional framework is proposed that separates two aspects of severity conflate…
  • Assessment of Lectin Staining Biomarkers for GNE Myopathy Gene Therapy. [Journal Article]
Muscle Nerve. 2026 Sep 21. [Online ahead of print]Sattler KM, Paleo BJ, … Crowe KEMN
  • CONCLUSIONS: PNA demonstrated the most robust and consistent performance across models, supporting its promise as a biomarker to reflect restoration of sialylation that would occur in skeletal muscle after GNEM gene therapy. Further validation in clinical samples will establish its utility as a pharmacodynamic biomarker.
  • Reduced Phrenic CMAP Amplitudes in Obesity Despite Preserved Diaphragm Ultrasound Measures. [Journal Article]
Muscle Nerve. 2026 Sep 20. [Online ahead of print]Boon AJ, Naddaf E, Beecher GMN
  • CONCLUSIONS: Elevated BMI is associated with lower phrenic CMAP amplitudes in patients without evidence of neuromuscular diaphragmatic dysfunction. Reduced phrenic CMAP amplitudes in obesity may reflect technical recording limitations rather than clinically meaningful diaphragmatic dysfunction. Low-amplitude phrenic responses in patients with obesity should be interpreted cautiously and alongside adjunctive assessments such as diaphragm ultrasound.
  • Sociodemographic and Clinical Profile of Adult Males With Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. [Journal Article]
Muscle Nerve. 2026 Sep 16. [Online ahead of print]Jayaram MJP, Clark HA, … Muscular Dystrophy Surveillance, Tracking, and Research Network (MD STARnet)MN
  • CONCLUSIONS: Except for cough assist and insurance type, sociodemographic and clinical characteristics were similar between the living and deceased. Low continuation of corticosteroids into adulthood needs interpretation in the context of the study's timeframe. These results can assist clinicians in anticipating the care needs of adults with DMD.
