- Efficacy and safety of anrikefon in the treatment of diabetic hemodialysis patients with pruritus: a post hoc analysis. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Anrikefon resulted in a noticeable reduction in itch intensity and an improvement in itch related quality of life in diabetic hemodialysis patients with pruritus.

- Mediation Analysis of Urine Osmolality and Response to Tolvaptan in Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease: A Post Hoc Assessment. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Nephrology (Carlton). 2026 Oct; 31(10):e70292.N
- CONCLUSIONS: This study supported short-term change in Uosm as a predictive biomarker of longer-term kidney function in a non-Japanese cohort; the relationship was not significant in the smaller Japanese cohort. Tolvaptan exhibited a direct treatment effect on the growth of kidney volume in both cohorts of ADPKD patients.

- Thai Transplant Care Practice Guideline on Immunosuppressive Therapy for Adult Kidney Transplantation. [Practice Guideline]
- The Thai Transplantation Society developed these clinical practice guidelines to establish a comprehensive standard for immunosuppressive therapy in adult kidney transplantation. While rooted in evidence-based medicine, the objective of this document extends beyond local application, serving as a practical model for low-to-middle-income countries, particularly within the Asia-Pacific and Southeas…

- Targeted-release Budesonide (Nefecon) versus systemic glucocorticoids for IgA nephropathy: a placebo-anchored indirect treatment comparison of randomized controlled trials. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this indirect comparison, both Nefecon and systemic glucocorticoids were associated with improved kidney outcomes versus placebo in IgAN. No statistically significant indirect difference was observed for eGFR preservation, while proteinuria and safety findings require cautious interpretation. Head-to-head trials are needed to further define their relative efficacy and safety.

- Metabolic control by liver-kidney crosstalk and glucagon in health and disease. [Review]
- Gluconeogenesis, nitrogen metabolism and acid-base regulation are fundamental for the maintenance of metabolic homeostasis. These three processes form an interconnected triangle, with liver-kidney crosstalk and the hormone glucagon at its core. Both kidney and liver perform gluconeogenesis, and they function in co-ordination to regulate the formation and excretion of the organic osmolyte urea and…

- Prevalence and associated factors of chronic kidney disease-associated pruritus in maintenance hemodialysis patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Approximately 60% of patients undergoing MHD experience pruritus. Serum phosphorus showed the most consistent association with CKD-aP, whereas estimates for several other factors varied according to variable definition, methodological quality, and between-study heterogeneity. The observed regional variation in the phosphorus-pruritus association should be regarded as hypothesis-generating. Standardised exposure definitions and prospective studies are needed to clarify these associations.

- Ultrasound radiomics-based machine learning models for differentiating diabetic kidney disease from non-diabetic kidney disease in type 2 diabetes. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The XGBoost model integrating renal ultrasound radiomic features with eGFR showed favourable performance for differentiating DKD from NDKD in patients with T2DM. By using routinely available ultrasound images and a readily accessible clinical indicator, this model may serve as a non-invasive auxiliary tool for preliminary screening in primary-level hospitals or nephrology departments, providing supportive evidence for individualized assessment and renal biopsy decision-making.

- Targeting the aldosterone-mineralocorticoid receptor pathway in cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome. [Review]
- The concept of cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome integrates cardiovascular, kidney and metabolic disorders into a single pathophysiological continuum characterized by chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, fibrosis and progressive organ dysfunction. A central driver of CKM syndrome progression is inappropriate activation of the aldosterone-mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) pathway, wh…

- Clinical characteristics, pain trajectories, and outcomes of peritoneal dialysis-related peritonitis: a multicenter retrospective study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: Gram-negative infections are associated with greater inflammation, more severe pain, and higher rates of treatment failure. Although mortality did not differ among the three groups, treatment failure was related to infection type, inflammatory burden, and nutritional status. Further prospective studies are required to confirm these findings.

- Recommendations for the management of frailty in chronic kidney disease: a consensus report. [Review]
- Frailty is highly prevalent in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is associated with increased mortality, hospitalization and disability and with poorer quality of life. Despite its prognostic importance, substantial knowledge gaps remain with regard to the optimal tools for assessing frailty in CKD settings, the extent to which frailty can be reversed through targeted interventions, …

- Residential altitude, aerosol optical depth, and diagnostic composition of biopsy-confirmed renal diseases: a single-center renal biopsy study from Yunnan, China. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this single-center biopsy-based cohort from Yunnan, residential altitude was not associated with broad differences in the overall spectrum of renal pathological diagnoses. Biopsy-confirmed ANCA-associated renal vasculitis accounted for a lower relative proportion of biopsy diagnoses at higher residential altitude, but this association was attenuated after accounting for geographic and environmental factors. These findings suggest that altitude-related patterns in renal biopsy diagnoses may reflect combined geographic, environmental, and referral-related gradients and should be interpreted within the context of a hospital-based biopsy population.

- Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome as a mitochondrial systems disorder. [Review]
- Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome is a multisystem disorder in which obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease reinforce one another through shared pathobiological characteristics and bidirectional organ crosstalk. Rather than representing the mere coexistence of diseases, CKM syndrome can be understood as a mitochondrial systems disorder. In energy-intens…
