- Training Interbrain Synchrony through Dyadic Neurofeedback Modulates Empathy-for-Pain. [Journal Article]Neuroimage. 2026 Nov 03; :122326. [Online ahead of print]N
- Dyadic neurofeedback offers a socially grounded approach for modulating neural processes that unfold between interacting individuals. While recent work demonstrates that dyadic neurofeedback can enhance inter-brain synchrony during interaction, whether its effects extend beyond the trained dyad remains unclear. Here, we examined whether dyadic neurofeedback targeting inter-brain synchrony in the …

- Desync and connect: Noninvasive MEG evidence of long-range coupling between locally desynchronized regions. [Journal Article]Neuroimage. 2026 Nov 03; :122315. [Online ahead of print]N
- A prevailing assumption in systems neuroscience is that long-range phase coupling between cortical regions requires locally synchronized oscillatory activity within each interacting area. Here we ask whether distal phase coupling can be detected from MEG data when both interacting regions undergo concurrent event-related desynchronization (ERD). Using controlled simulations with progressively dis…

- State-Dependent EEG Markers of Excitation/Inhibition and Hemodynamic State Are Associated with Random Noise Stimulation Effects. [Journal Article]Neuroimage. 2026 Nov 02; :122329. [Online ahead of print]N
- CONCLUSIONS: The findings argue against a simple tonic-shift account of tRNS and support a state-dependent framework in which stimulation effects depend on ongoing electrophysiological and hemodynamic context. EEG and fNIRS provided complementary information about variability in learning and stimulation response, supporting multimodal approaches to understanding and individualizing neuromodulation.

- Do autistic traits modulate the neural processing of logical rule violations in visual and auditory modalities? [Journal Article]Neuroimage. 2026 Nov 02; :122327. [Online ahead of print]N
- Similarities in cognitive processing have been reported between individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and non-clinical individuals with autistic traits. However, previous research on autistic traits has primarily focused on social-emotional domains, with limited attention to abstract logical reasoning. Given that sensitivity to rules and patterns is a notable characteristic of the autis…

- Same Networks, Different Dynamics: Parsimony in Auditory Cognitive Task Processing. [Journal Article]Neuroimage. 2026 Nov 02; :122308. [Online ahead of print]N
- Distinct cognitive states might be supported either by dedicated, task-specific brain networks or by flexible modulation within shared ones, a distinction central to understanding how the brain allocates neural resources. Guided by the principle of parsimony, we hypothesized that both language and numerical cognition, when matched for sensory modality and attentional demand, would engage a common…

- Altered sensorimotor-occipital network topology in chronic insomnia: A graph-theoretical and edge-wise resting-state fMRI analysis. [Journal Article]Neuroimage Clin. 2026 Oct 31; 52:104084. [Online ahead of print]NC
- CONCLUSIONS: CI entails multi-level functional network reorganization, characterized by global topological randomization, reduced occipital nodal clustering, and selective decoupling within sensorimotor and sensorimotor-occipital circuits. These findings suggest that CI involves widespread integration failure across large-scale systems rather than isolated regional dysfunction, with potential implications for understanding its neurocognitive sequelae.

- Alterations in default mode network functional connectivity in semantic dementia. [Journal Article]
- Progressive deterioration of semantic memory is a defining characteristic of the semantic variant of primary progressive aphasia or semantic dementia (SD). Semantic deficits in SD are classically attributed to temporal lobe atrophy, in particular in the anterior temporal lobe. Recent neuroimaging studies have associated SD with disruptions of intrinsic connectivity networks during task and at res…

- Rapid estimation of photon measurement density functions using a deep convolutional neural network for functional near-infrared spectroscopy. [Journal Article]
- The photon measurement density function (PMDF) plays a fundamental role in both pre-experimental optode arrangement and post-experimental data analysis in functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Conventionally, PMDFs are derived from structural MR images through tissue segmentation and photon propagation modeling (PPM), which are computationally demanding and time-consuming, thereby limiti…

- Robust joint estimation of regional brain activity and inter-regional source covariance via full-structure covariance learning. [Journal Article]Neuroimage. 2026 Oct 30; :122316. [Online ahead of print]N
- Uncovering the mechanisms underlying cognition and brain disorders requires accurate regional source imaging and reliable characterization of inter-regional statistical dependencies. Traditional methods typically follow a two-stage pipeline that first performs source imaging and then calculates inter-regional dependence measures separately. Such a decoupled framework can propagate source-reconstr…

- Does Phubbing Always Elicit Social Pain? The Role of Belonging Context. [Journal Article]Neuroimage. 2026 Oct 29; :122325. [Online ahead of print]N
- Phubbing, a prevalent interpersonal phenomenon in which individuals divert their attention to their phones while neglecting their interaction partners during face-to-face interactions, has been associated with adverse psychological and relational outcomes, including social pain. However, the same "eyes-on-phone" behavior may not always be experienced as phubbing or evoke feelings of neglect and s…

- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) super-resolution (SR) focuses on reconstructing high-quality, high-resolution target images from sparsely acquired signals while enhancing reconstruction performance through guidance from a reference image. In clinical practice, MRI SR contributes to reduced scan durations and alleviates patient discomfort, as well as motion artifacts associated with extended immo…

- CONCLUSIONS: With the presently available data, the individual-level effect of acquisition start time on CL cannot be reliably and accurately estimated from static imaging. Combined visual and quantitative assessment of [[18]F]-flutemetamol PET scans across the recommended timeframe supports reliable clinical interpretation. Consistency in acquisition parameters is recommended for repeat scans.

- Acute exercise for emotional pattern separation in youth with psychiatric symptoms and childhood adversity: a randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]
- Adolescence and young adulthood are critical periods for the emergence of transdiagnostic psychiatric symptoms. Pattern separation (PS) is the ability to discriminate between similar stimuli. Its behavioral proxy is mnemonic discrimination. PS is an important hippocampal function impaired in several mental disorders. Previous research demonstrated that while childhood adversity might lead to impa…

- Robustness of MEG source imaging in pediatric patients with surgical cavities: A case series. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this pediatric epilepsy case series with surgical cavities, MSI showed broad agreement across simple spherical and advanced realistic head models. These findings did not establish a consistent localization advantage of one head model over another. However, larger prospective cohorts with independent ground truths are needed to validate and generalize these findings across cavity types and EZ locations.
