- Maresin 1 delivered via a poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) conduit enhances sciatic nerve regeneration in rats and is associated with glycogen synthase kinase-3β/β-catenin signaling. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Sep 14. [Online ahead of print]N
- CONCLUSIONS: MaR1-loaded PLGA nerve conduits facilitate structural and functional recovery after sciatic nerve defects in rats. The beneficial effects may be associated with modulation of GSK-3β/β-catenin signaling and enhanced expression of axonal regeneration- and myelination-related proteins.

- Involvement of phosphorylated caveolin-1 in the dorsal root ganglion in diabetic neuropathic pain and the interventional effect of electroacupuncture. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Oct 15; 37(15):615-624.N
- CONCLUSIONS: Upregulation of p-Cav-1 expression in DRG is involved in the development of DNP. Electroacupuncture can effectively alleviate hyperalgesia in DNP rats, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of p-Cav-1 expression in DRG.

- Biophysical characterization of Arc protein-RNA interactions. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Sep 09. [Online ahead of print]N
- CONCLUSIONS: The results identify RNA as a crucial cofactor for Arc capsid assembly under physiologically relevant conditions and reveal measurable specificity of Arc for its own mRNA. These findings elucidate how Arc packages its own mRNA, providing insight into Arc-mediated neuronal RNA transfer and advancing the development of Arc-based therapeutic delivery systems.

- Olig2 downregulation mitigates early neurological deficits by modulating mitochondrial dynamics in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Sep 09. [Online ahead of print]N
- CONCLUSIONS: Downregulation of Olig2 was associated with improvements in early neurobehavioral outcomes and mitochondrial function, potentially mediated through suppression of apoptosis and modulation of mitochondrial dynamics.

- Low-dose N-methyl-D-aspartate protects against amyloid-β-induced neurotoxicity by suppressing the MLK3-MKK7-JNK3 pathway and activating the PI3K-PDK1-Akt pathway. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Sep 03. [Online ahead of print]N
- CONCLUSIONS: Low-dose NMDA exerts neuroprotective effects against Aβ-induced neurotoxicity. These effects are mediated by the dual modulation of the pro-survival PI3K-PDK1-Akt pathway and the pro-apoptotic MLK3-MKK7-JNK3 pathway.

- Melatonin attenuates ferroptosis-associated injury through modulation of the thioredoxin-interacting protein/thioredoxin-1/glutathione peroxidase 4 pathway after neonatal hypoxic ischemic brain damage. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Oct 15; 37(15):638-650.N
- CONCLUSIONS: Mel attenuates acute neonatal HIBD and reduces ferroptosis-associated neuronal injury, potentially involving modulation of the TXNIP/Trx-1/GPX4 pathway. Multimodal MRI may serve as a useful in-vivo tool for evaluating therapeutic responses after neonatal HIBD.

- sAPPα acts as an endogenous ligand for TREM2 to regulate microglial survival and inflammatory responses in Alzheimer's disease. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Oct 15; 37(15):651-671.N
- CONCLUSIONS: sAPPα directly binds TREM2 and may limit excessive inflammatory activation of microglia under LPS stimulation. The TREM2-sAPPα interaction may represent a regulatory pathway relevant to Alzheimer's disease.

- Gray matter plasticity associated with secondary trigeminal neuralgia in rats. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Sep 03. [Online ahead of print]N
- CONCLUSIONS: Lower volumes in the ipsilateral hippocampus and contralateral primary somatosensory cortex were observed at 12 weeks following trigeminal neuralgia induction when compared with those in the sham group. Comparisons at the 4- and 8-week cross-sectional sampling time points revealed no significant intergroup differences.

- Volume changes of the limbic system and their link to age-related memory decline in healthy adults. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Oct 07; 37(14):560-569.N
- CONCLUSIONS: Healthy aging causes heterogeneous limbic structural changes, which are essential for sustaining immediate and delayed memory. This advances understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying normal cognitive aging.

- Biological correlates of spontaneous brain activity alterations in diabetic retinopathy: an amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation-based multimodal study. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Oct 07; 37(14):570-586.N
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with diabetic retinopathy showed altered spontaneous brain activity in visual and extra-visual regions. Multimodal analyses provided exploratory biological annotation and preliminary discriminative information for these ALFF alterations, but the transcriptomic and neurotransmitter findings should be interpreted as indirect atlas-based associations requiring further validation.

- Activation of ASIC3 in nociceptors induces itch without overt pain in a novel mouse model of acid-evoked itch. [Journal Article]Neuroreport. 2026 Oct 07; 37(14):587-595.N
- CONCLUSIONS: Given the absence of ASIC3 in typical itch-mediating primary sensory neurons, citric acid-induced ASIC3 activation in nociceptive skin afferents primarily involved in pain likely underlies the observed itch behavior. As 0.5 M citric acid likely represents a weak noxious stimulus, weak activation of these pain-mediating afferents can evoke itch, supporting the intensity theory of itch.
