- Durable Response to Vebreltinib in Heavily Pretreated MET-Amplified Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma: A Case Report. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first report of vebreltinib monotherapy inducing a deep and durable partial response in heavily pretreated, MET-amplified ICC, with the response lasting over six months despite eventual disease progression. This case underscores the critical value of comprehensive molecular profiling after first-line treatment failure to identify actionable drivers such as MET amplification.

- Phase II study of selpercatinib in children and young adults with RET-altered tumors: Arm N of the NCI-COG Pediatric MATCH trial (APEC1621). [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 13. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: There was a low match and accrual rate on this MATCH subprotocol, resulting in early termination of the study. The basis for low accrual was likely multifactorial, including the overall rarity of this genetic alteration across pediatric tumor types and accelerated FDA approval of selpercatinib in children ≥ 12 years old prior to the opening of this subprotocol.

- Timeliness of Pathological Diagnosis for Suspicious Breast Lesions in Northern Tanzania. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: We observed comparatively short diagnostic intervals, with several modifiable factors influencing interval lengths. Targeted training of frontline HCPs and sustained breast cancer awareness efforts are particularly needed for women experiencing prolonged delays from symptom onset to diagnosis. Continued monitoring of diagnostic intervals is essential to sustain and improve diagnostic timeliness.

- The Perils and Consequences of Payer Step Editing ("Step Therapy") in U.S. Medical Oncology: Evidence, Case Examples, and Policy Remedies. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]O
- Step therapy ("fail-first") policies require patients to initiate treatment with a payer-preferred regimen, often selected for cost, before coverage is granted for the oncologist-recommended therapy. In medical oncology, where biologic heterogeneity, biomarker-directed therapy, and time-sensitive sequencing determine outcomes, step edits can function as an avoidable barrier to evidence-based care…

- Reference frame for Adult Brainstem gliomas. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 10. [Online ahead of print]O
- Brainstem gliomas (BSG) are rare in adults (less than 2% of all gliomas) and generally have a better prognosis than pediatric BSG, although outcomes remain heterogeneous. Many other central nervous system (CNS) tumors, as well as nontumoral lesions, have been described as differential diagnoses and should be kept in mind. Each case should be examined by neurosurgeons from specialized centers to d…

- A phase 2 study of tipifarnib in children and young adults with tumors harboring HRAS genomic alterations: NCI-COG Pediatric MATCH trial (APEC1621M). [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: This U.S. cooperative group study was successful at identifying pediatric patients with tumors that harbored oncogenic mutations in HRAS. The frequency of the mutations identified and patients enrolled was lower than anticipated and the study closed before accrual was complete. The adverse effect profile of tipifarnib in pediatric patients on the intermittent dosing schedule was acceptable. Limited single-agent efficacy of tipifarnib was observed in this biomarker-selected cohort of refractory pediatric tumors.

- Immune checkpoint inhibitors induced autoimmune haemolytic anemia in patients with malignant cancer. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: ICI-induced AIHA usually occurs early during ICI therapy and responds favorably to corticosteroid-based treatment. Pre-existing anemia in our cases should be regarded as a hypothesis-generating observation rather than evidence of a specific risk factor, underscoring the need for early hemolysis work-up and close monitoring when anemia worsens after ICI exposure.

- Nivolumab and Cabozantinib in People with HIV and Advanced Solid Tumors: A Pilot Trial and Systematic Review. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: Nivolumab plus cabozantinib had a manageable safety profile without an apparent loss of HIV virologic control in available measurements. Durable disease stabilization occurred in some participants, but antitumor efficacy cannot be determined from this small, heterogeneous cohort. These findings support larger dedicated studies in PWH, particularly in Kaposi sarcoma.

- Treatment of metastatic solid pseudopapillary neoplasms. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: This is the largest single-institution series of treatment of advanced SPN, demonstrating that select therapies can provide disease control. Molecular characterization of SPN frequently identifies Wnt/β-catenin pathway alterations, demonstrating a potential clinical benefit for drugs targeting this pathway.

- Global Disparities in the Availability and Reimbursement of Systemic Therapies for Renal Cell Carcinoma: Results of the International ARON-AID Survey. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: Access to innovative systemic therapies for RCC remains highly unequal at the global level, with reimbursement posing a major barrier even where drugs are available. Internationally coordinated efforts addressing health policy, infrastructure, and equitable pricing are urgently required to ensure that advances in RCC treatment translate into improved outcomes for patients across diverse economic settings.

- CONCLUSIONS: Baseline 25(OH)D added modest prognostic information beyond clinical factors, with supportive external validation. These findings do not establish treatment-predictive utility or benefit from vitamin D supplementation. Prospective validation is needed before clinical implementation.

- Real-World Patient-Reported Outcome Comparing Antibody-Drug Conjugates and Conventional Chemotherapy in Metastatic Breast Cancer. [Journal Article]Oncologist. 2026 Oct 05. [Online ahead of print]O
- CONCLUSIONS: In this prospective real-world cohort, ADC and conventional chemotherapy cohorts showed different longitudinal patterns of patient- and caregiver-reported burden. Because treatment allocation was biology- and clinically driven, these findings are exploratory and should not be interpreted as causal treatment effects. Systematic ePROM collection within the DAMA framework was feasible and may support identification of supportive-care needs.
