- Regulatory Effects of Bone Morphogenetic Protein-4 on Tumour Necrosis Factor-Alpha-Induced IL-6 and M-CSF Expression in Cementoblasts. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Oct 10. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: TNF-α increased IL-6 and M-CSF expression in cementoblasts via the NF-κB pathway. BMP-4 and BMP-2 exacerbated the TNF-α-induced effect on IL-6 and M-CSF.

- Clinical Crown Length Changes Following Maxillary Molar Distalization: The Role of Three-Dimensional Tooth Movement and Third Molar Position. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: CCL changes during maxillary molar distalization were associated with second molar intrusion and the buccolingual position of the third molar. Greater second molar intrusion was associated with decreased CCL, whereas a more buccally positioned third molar was associated with increased CCL. These findings suggest that vertical movement of the second molar and the three-dimensional position of the third molar should be considered when planning maxillary molar distalization.

- Are Posterior Teeth Overerupted or Is the Mandibular Ramus Shorter? - A CBCT Study of Skeletal Class II Hyperdivergent Patients Compared With Class I. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: No evidence of posterior tooth overeruption was observed in skeletal Class II hyperdivergent patients. Instead, a shorter mandibular ramus height was observed in the hyperdivergent group compared with the Class I group. Significant positive correlations were found between posterior tooth height and ramus height. These findings indicate an association between skeletal and dental measurements and do not support the previously hypothesized "struggle" dynamic.

- Jaw Dimensions, Skeletal Maturation, and Salivary Hormones in Adolescents With Normal and Increased Body Mass Index: A Cross-Sectional Study. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Oct 04. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: Increased BMI was associated with greater mandibular length in pre-treatment orthodontic adolescents. Salivary adiponectin was negatively associated with jaw dimensions.

- Three-Dimensional Facial Soft Tissue Response to Premolar Extraction: Influence of Vertical Skeletal Change Analysed Using Geometric Morphometrics. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Sep 27. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: Three-dimensional facial soft-tissue changes following premolar extraction showed group-level patterns that appeared to vary according to the direction of vertical skeletal change. Patients with decreased FMA tended to show lower facialreorganisation, whereas patients with increased FMA tended to show lateral facial narrowing and facial slimming. Given the modest subgroup size and multiple nominal ROC comparisons, these findings warrant confirmation in larger cohorts.

- Finite Element Analysis of Maxillary Molar Intrusion Using Temporary Anchorage Devices: A Comparison of Direct and Indirect Force Loading. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Sep 20. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: FEA revealed that the MCPP is a versatile appliance that allows tooth movement with selective control of extrusion or intrusion. The MCPP with indirect force loading can induce the same intrusive movement of the maxillary molar as TADs with less stress on the root surface.

- Artificial Intelligence in Orthodontics: Part 1-Basic Concepts. [Review]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Sep 20. [Online ahead of print]OC
- Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into orthodontic research and clinical practice. This review paper consists of three parts and aims to establish a foundational understanding of AI concepts for readers from non-technical backgrounds while familiarising them with its applications and challenges within the field of orthodontics. The first part provides a comprehensive i…

- Sequential Machine Learning Approach to Support Premolar Extraction Decisions in Orthodontics. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Sep 17. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: This new sequential architecture not only mimics clinical human reasoning but also provides transparent, evidence-based recommendations for mestizo populations. By bridging machine learning with practical clinical application, this tool establishes a new way for AI-assisted orthodontic treatment planning.

- Estimation of Mandibular Buccal Shelf Cortical Bone Thickness at Variable Sites, Heights and Angulations in Three Different Growth Patterns-A Cone Beam Computed Tomography Study. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Sep 15. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results, placing a buccal shelf bone screw is safer and more stable in horizontal individual, compared to normal and vertical individual because of greater cortical engagement. At a site distal to 2nd molar, at a height of 7 mm from alveolar bone crest and angulating at 80° gives the best cortical bone engagement, which in turn increases the primary stability and decreases the chances of failure of buccal shelf implant. Across all growth patterns, posterior mandibular inter-radicular areas (7 M, 7 Mi, and 7D) exhibit greater variability in cortical bone thickness between genders with increased bone thickness in females compared to males.

- Orthodontic and Oral Health Assessment in Children With Autism: A Comparative Study With Typically Developing Children. [Journal Article]Orthod Craniofac Res. 2026 Sep 09. [Online ahead of print]OC
- CONCLUSIONS: Within the limitations of this study sample, children with ASD showed higher ICON scores and poorer oral hygiene status compared with typically developing children. These findings indicate an association between ASD status, orthodontic treatment need as assessed by ICON, and oral hygiene status in the study population. Further studies are needed to better understand the factors influencing orthodontic and oral health outcomes in children with ASD.
