- Study on the molecular mechanism of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition in HPV-associated cervical cancer through activation of miR-129. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2027 Jan 01; 40(1):326-341.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: miR-129 is significantly upregulated in HPV-associated cervical cancer and shows potential as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker. BMSCs upregulate miR-129 in cervical cancer cells and miR-129 modulates proliferation, invasion, EMT marker expression and MRP1 expression. These findings suggest that the BMSCs/miR-129 axis may contribute to cervical cancer progression, but further in-vivo and mechanistic studies are needed.

- Chicoric acid regulates IL-1β to improve the inflammatory response in mice undergoing myomectomy under propofol anesthesia. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2027 Jan 01; 40(1):260-273.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative chicoric acid augments propofol's anti-inflammatory effect during myomectomy by inhibiting the p38 MAPK/NF-κB pathway. However, the paradoxical effect of IL-1β blockade reveals unforeseen complexity in the perioperative cytokine network, warranting further investigation into the multitarget effects of chicoric acid and potential network-compensation mechanisms.

- Exploring the association of quercetin with liver fibrosis through network pharmacology and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2027 Jan 01; 40(1):357-371.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Histopathology and microbiome analyses indicated that quercetin intervention was associated with altered liver histopathological features and shifts in gut microbiota composition in rats with CCl4-induced liver fibrosis. Network pharmacology predicted several hub targets and pathways potentially linked to these observations. As the present analyses are purely correlational and lack mechanistic validation at the molecular level, no causal relationships are implied between the predicted targets/pathways and the observed histological or microbiome changes. These findings should be regarded as hypothesis-generating and warrant further validation studies.

- Protective effects of quercetin in experimental ulcerative colitis: Potential involvement of ERK-MMP signaling. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2027 Jan 01; 40(1):285-292.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Quercetin showed protective effects in experimental UC models and these effects may be associated with modulation of the ERK-MMP signaling axis. Further pathway-specific rescue experiments, pharmacokinetic studies and human-relevant models are required before this mechanism can be considered definitive or clinically translatable.

- Novel antibiofilm combination using natural products against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2027 Jan 01; 40(1):304-312.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This study concludes that Allium Cepa (Onion) Menthe Spicata (mint) Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) having antibiofilm activity when used separately but in combination Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) And Menthe Spicata (mint) against Pseudomonas Aeruginosa only shows synergistic activity where as other combination shows indifferent activity but shows lower concentration of extract as compare to when used separately but not match the criteria of synergism but importantly none of combination shows antagonist activity. These findings emphasize the need to incorporate these natural agents, after drug authority approval, with already available antimicrobial agents.

- LINC01116 promotes the progression of papillary thyroid carcinoma by regulating the apoptosis of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2027 Jan 01; 40(1):245-259.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: LINC01116 is significantly upregulated in PTC and serves as an independent prognostic biomarker. It promotes tumor progression by inhibiting BMSC apoptosis through modulation of the Bcl-2/caspase pathway. These findings provide new insights into PTC pathogenesis and suggest LINC01116 as a potential therapeutic target.

- Phenotypic biofilm formation and detection of biofilm-associated genes in multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from burn wounds. [Journal Article]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2027 Jan 01; 40(1):76-84.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the high prevalence of multidrug-resistant, biofilm-forming P. aeruginosa isolates recovered from burn wounds is an important microbiological concern. The frequent coexistence of multidrug resistance and biofilm-forming capacity observed in this study suggests a possible association that may complicate infection management and emphasizes the importance of continuous surveillance and effective infection control strategies.

- Berberine improves diabetic foot ulcer healing after tibial transverse osteotomy by inhibiting the PDGF-B/PDGFRβ signaling pathway. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Pak J Pharm Sci. 2027 Jan 01; 40(1):150-164.PJ
- CONCLUSIONS: In DF patients undergoing TTO, adjunctive local berberine therapy significantly improves the total effective rate and promotes ulcer healing, with benefits associated with reduced inflammation and fibroblast apoptosis and downregulation of the PDGF-B/PDGFRβ pathway. These findings are correlative and require further mechanistic validation. Larger multi-center trials are needed to confirm efficacy and safety.
