  • Pediatric Lower Extremity Lawnmower Injuries Requiring Free Tissue Transfer. [Case Reports]
Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e8045.Brown CW, Elam BM, … Powers JMPR
  • Pediatric lower extremity lawnmower injuries are high-energy traumas that often result in severe composite tissue loss and require advanced reconstruction. Compared with other mechanisms of pediatric lower extremity trauma, these injuries have a higher incidence of amputation and complex reconstruction. This case series describes 3 pediatric patients, aged 2.5-10 years, who sustained severe lower…
  • Three-stage V-line Technique with Polycaprolactone Filler for Facial Contour Restoration. [Case Reports]
Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e7988.Chen W, Cui HPR
  • Asian facial anatomy is often characterized by flatter midfaces, wider zygomatic arches, and reduced projection, leading to diminished contour definition. Aesthetic goals therefore emphasize smooth transitions and balanced facial proportions. The V-line concept represents a structured approach integrating point-, line-, and plane-based augmentation to enhance facial support and contour. This prel…
  • Labia Majora Symmetrization Using De-epithelialized Deep External Pudendal Artery Tubular Flap. [Case Reports]
Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e8030.Pereira OJ, Ely JB, Lee KHPR
  • This case report presents a novel technique for reconstructing posttraumatic asymmetrical labia majora using a deep external pudendal artery tubular flap. A 20-year-old woman experienced deviation of the urinary stream during micturition as a result of vulvar sequelae following a motorcycle accident. To address atrophy of the unilateral labia majora, we designed a de-epithelialized deep external …
  • "Doc, Is This Normal?" A Retrospective Review of Patient Messaging for a Single Surgeon in an Academic Plastic Surgery Practice. [Journal Article]
Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e8047.Berns J, Anderson JL, Erdmann DPR
  • CONCLUSIONS: This review of patient-initiated messages to an academic plastic surgeon over a continuous 18-month period indicates that digital communication has become a significant component of clinical workflow with most inquiries from middle-aged female patients seeking aesthetic procedures, often preoperatively and during already busy work hours. Optimizing patient education, triage protocols, and institutional support (via office staff, nurses, and advanced practice practitioners) in the preoperative period can reduce unnecessary queries, improving communication efficiency while balancing patient needs with physician well-being.
  • Successful Management of Postoperative Galactorrhea after Reduction Mammaplasty. [Case Reports]
Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e8034.Hoffpauir LA, Cervantes Valadez S, Brown RHPR
  • Galactorrhea after reduction mammoplasty is a rare postoperative complication, usually associated with hormonal dysregulation or pituitary abnormalities. A 43-year-old woman with symptomatic macromastia underwent bilateral superomedial pedicle reduction mammoplasty. Three days postoperatively, she developed high-volume bilateral milky drainage through her surgical drains. Laboratory evaluation re…
  • Long-term Outcomes of Microform Cleft Lip Repair with Nasolabial Muscle Tension Line Group Reconstruction: A 19-Year Experience. [Journal Article]
Plast Reconstr Surg. 2025 Dec 03. [Online ahead of print]Liu X, Zheng Y, … Yin NPR
  • CONCLUSIONS: According to our 19 years of experience, the nasolabial muscle tension line group reconstruction technique is effective for repairing microform cleft lip deformities, offering significant improvements in nasal and labial symmetry. This technique ensures reliable formation of the philtrum and nasal sill through precise reconstruction of muscle tension line groups. Long-term follow-up assessments using this technique revealed sustained nasolabial symmetry over time.
  • One and Done? Evaluating Prepectoral Direct-to-Implant Breast Reconstruction as a Single-Stage Solution. [Journal Article]
Plast Reconstr Surg. 2026 Aug 17. [Online ahead of print]Amro C, Boyd CJ, … Karp NSPR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Prepectoral DTI reconstruction can result in significantly fewer complications and total operations compared to two-stage IBBR. Although aesthetic reoperations were more common in DTI, they were minor and elective. To our knowledge, this is the first and largest prepectoral-only study evaluating revision burden, providing plane-specific data to guide operative planning and patient counseling. Patients can be counseled that DTI reconstruction offers a safe and aesthetically favorable option, with a reduced total number of surgeries and lower complication rates compared to traditional two-stage reconstruction.
  • Does Industry Influence Persist? Financial Conflicts and ADM Outcomes After the 2021 FDA Safety Alert. [Journal Article]
Plast Reconstr Surg. 2026 Aug 14. [Online ahead of print]Sifil MK, Kahn DMPR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Although the FDA warning coincided with fewer positive studies, financial relationships remained associated with favorable reporting. These findings are associative and do not establish that payments caused individual study conclusions. Reviewers, journals, and readers should consider both the presence and magnitude of industry relationships when interpreting ADM studies.
