- Involvement of general dental practitioners in epidemiologic data collection: insights from the Belgian Oral Health Dental Registration and Evaluation Survey. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 20; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Involvement of general dental practitioners in oral health data collection is feasible yet challenging, requiring an investment of time, training and calibration, as well as the use of motivational incentives.

- Minimally invasive implant-assisted removable partial dentures with surveyed crowns for atrophic edentulous arches: a retrospective case series with up to a 67-month follow-up. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 20; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: The ISSC-retained IARPD is a predictable and minimally invasive treatment option for completely edentulous patients. By successfully bridging the biomechanical gap between fixed prostheses and conventional overdentures, it serves as both a primary and revision treatment. The favorable clinical outcomes of this protocol requires strategic implant distribution, precise prosthodontic design, and regular monitoring to prevent biomechanical overload.

- Global environmental and cardiometabolic correlates of periodontitis- ischemic heart disease co-burden: a spatiotemporal network analysis. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 20; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Elevated blood pressure was the only shared population-level factor associated with both conditions. Kidney dysfunction and dietary factors were more strongly associated with IHD burden, whereas lead exposure and particulate matter were associated with periodontitis burden in ecological models. Geographically tailored interventions are essential: metabolic management in IHD-dominant regions and environmental remediation in periodontitis-predominant areas, particularly Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa. Clinically, the findings support greater attention to blood pressure and cardiometabolic risk assessment in patients with periodontitis, while emphasizing that causal links and intervention benefits require confirmation in individual-level studies.

- Photobiomodulation therapy for the management of pain associated with temporomandibular disorders: a systematic review. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 20; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Photobiomodulation demonstrates pain reduction superior to sham controls in several myogenous TMD trials. However, due to low GRADE certainty and evidence inconsistency, it should be considered a complementary treatment option rather than a standalone therapy.

- Making a case for dental clinical practice guidelines for elective antibiotic use: an institutional retrospective study. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 08; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Implant-related procedures more frequently involved nonindicated, broad-spectrum antibiotic use, highlighting the need for evidence-based guidelines to reduce antibiotic overuse. Clindamycin use can further be reduced with the justified use of alternative safer antibiotics and minimizing mislabeling of penicillin allergy. Clinical Practice Guidelines for antibiotic use following dental procedures can promote judicious antibiotic use.

- Clinical and patient-centered outcomes of novel overlapping rotated double flap versus subepithelial connective tissue graft in RT1 gingival recession: a pilot study. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Oct 05; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- This pilot randomized study compared the clinical effectiveness and patient-reported outcomes of the novel Overlapping Rotated Double (NORD) flap with the Subepithelial Connective Tissue Graft (SCTG) for the management of single isolated RT1 gingival recession defects. Thirty-two systemically healthy adults were randomly assigned to either the NORD or SCTG group. Primary outcomes included reducti…

- Beyond TMJ pain: resolution of diffuse cervicobrachialgia after excision of a TMJ synovial cyst. An atypical case report. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Sep 25; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- Synovial cysts of the temporomandibular joint are rare, typically manifesting with local symptoms such as preauricular pain and swelling; magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is essential for diagnosis. A 45-year-old woman presented with left preauricular pain, limited mouth opening (maximum interincisal distance of approximately 24 mm), and chronic diffuse cervicobrachialgia radiating from the neck …

- Chart-documented masticatory muscle symptoms and pain-related temporomandibular disorder findings among entertainment professionals attending prosthodontic and esthetic dental practices: a retrospective matched chart-review study. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Sep 17; 0(0):1-19. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Entertainment-profession status correlated with more documented findings in this selected treatment-seeking population. Selection and differential documentation may explain part or all of the association; the study does not estimate occupational prevalence, risk, or causality. Its practical value is standardised pre-treatment documentation of baseline symptoms and function.

- Clinical characteristics of unilateral and bilateral masticatory myofascial pain: an exploratory cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Sep 17; 0(0):1-18. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Unilateral MMP showed different baseline clinical patterns with greater side-toside palpation asymmetry and shorter time since pain onset compared to bilateral MMP. These findings support the clinical value of recording laterality in MMP for future research, but do not establish temporal progression or distinct pathophysiological phenotypes.

- Orofacial manifestations of an overlap syndrome: a report of progressive polyautoimmunity. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Sep 09; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- Autoimmune disorders exhibit several clinical symptoms, pathophysiological processes, and genetic components, which result in an autoimmune tautology, suggesting that they share similar etiological pathways. Systemic Sclerosis (SSc), also known as Scleroderma, is a potentially fatal systemic autoimmune connective tissue disease with a multifactorial pathogenesis and unknown etiology. The progress…

- Surface roughness and gloss comparison of CAD/CAM resin-based composite crowns polished with various systems. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Sep 10; 57(8):642-648.QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Ceramic and composite polishing systems significantly reduced surface roughness and increased gloss for CAD/CAM resin-based composite crowns compared with unpolished crowns. Among the ceramic and composite polishing systems evaluated, OptraFine produced the smoothest surfaces, while OptraFine and Dialite LD achieved the highest gloss values.

- Effect of music listening on anxiety, stress, and pain during frenectomy: a randomized controlled trial. [Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Aug 28; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Listening to standardized instrumental music during diode-laser frenectomy was associated with lower postoperative dental anxiety, perceived stress, and early postoperative pain, together with favorable changes in selected physiological parameters. Music listening may therefore represent a simple and feasible non-pharmacological adjunct for improving patient comfort during minor periodontal surgical procedures.

[Journal Article]Quintessence Int. 2026 Aug 28; 0(0):0. [Online ahead of print]QI
- CONCLUSIONS: Both therapeutic approaches produced favourable clinical improvements over time. A-PRF impregnated with DFDBA may enhance the regenerative potential of VISTA and contributeto more predictable and stable esthetic outcomes.
