  • Musculoskeletal ultrasound in traumatic emergencies: what radiologists need to know. [Review]

  • While conventional radiography (CR) and computed tomography (CT) remain diagnostic staples in emergency settings, ultrasound (US) is a critical tool offering a rapid, dynamic, and noninvasive alternative for acute musculoskeletal (MSK) pathologies assessment. Prompt identification of conditions such as unstable fractures, soft tissue or muscular hematomas, joint effusions, and tendon ruptures is …
  • Addressing unmet needs in nuclear medicine: Italian experience with PET/CT features and structured reporting in oncology. [Journal Article]
Radiol Med. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]Miceli A, Santo G, … Oncology AIMN Working GroupRM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Oncological PET/CT reporting practices among nuclear medicine physicians in Italy show substantial heterogeneity despite extensive professional experience. Greater harmonization of reporting practices may improve the clarity and clinical utility of PET/CT reports. These findings may provide a basis for scientific societies to develop practical reporting recommendations that balance standardization with flexibility in routine clinical practice.
  • A preliminary evaluation of chest magnetic resonance imaging in adult patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. [Journal Article]
    Radiol Med. 2026 Oct; 131(10):1819-1829.Volpi F, Castellana R, … Romei CRM
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this preliminary pilot study, MRI appeared feasible for assessing morphological changes in adult patients with NCFB through a short imaging protocol. The qualitative DWI findings described provide preliminary observations that may contribute to generating hypotheses regarding pulmonary abnormalities but require validation in larger prospective studies with quantitative imaging and clinical correlation. However, further studies on larger and more heterogeneous cohorts are needed to improve the generalizability of the results, and adequate training is required for the assessment of thoracic MRI to ensure consistent and reproducible interpretation.
  • Application advances of habitat imaging based on CT or PET/CT: a systematic review. [Systematic Review]

  • CONCLUSIONS: HI based on CT or PET/CT demonstrates preliminary potential in evaluating treatment response, predicting prognosis, and revealing tumor pathological and molecular characteristics. However, the current evidence is of low-to-moderate quality with a risk of bias, and considerable methodological heterogeneity exists. The overall body of evidence remains at a relatively early stage. Prospective studies are needed to validate HI as a clinical biomarker.
