- Rapid antifungal susceptibility testing from positive blood cultures using direct gradient diffusion: a prospective study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: DGD performed directly from positive blood culture bottles provides early antifungal susceptibility results with high CA and markedly reduced turnaround time. However, caution is required when interpreting anidulafungin resistance in C. parapsilosis. This approach may serve as an adjunctive tool for early optimization of antifungal therapy.

- Antimicrobial susceptibility concordance between colonising and bloodstream ESBL and carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales in allogeneic stem cell transplant recipients: a 10-year retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The most recent surveillance isolate substantially outperforms the earliest as an empirical reference. The predictive value of surveillance culture antibiograms is time-dependent and mechanism-specific and should be interpreted accordingly.

- Appropriateness of antibiotic selection at emergency department discharge and risk of 30-day adverse events in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: Antibiotic prescribing for AECOPD managed in the ED was characterised by a predominance of fluoroquinolones and limited individualisation according to patients' clinical profiles. Among patients discharged directly from the ED, antibiotic selection in accordance with national recommendations was independently associated with a reduced risk of a 30-day adverse event.

- The PRECISE framework: a structured approach to antibiogram interpretation for antimicrobial optimization at the bedside. [Review]
- Antimicrobial resistance claimed an estimated 4.95 million lives in 2019. When clinicians prescribe empiric therapy that follows guidelines, mortality drops by roughly a third; when they de-escalate on the basis of culture results, it drops by more than half. Yet the document that should drive both decisions, the antibiogram, is often read superficially or misinterpreted, particularly by physicia…

- [Gonococcal arthritis: neither so common nor so straightforward. Clinical description of cases diagnosed in northern Spain between 2013 and 2023]. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In the current context of increasing gonococcal infection incidence, gonococcal arthritis should be considered in patients with septic monoarthritis or polyarthritis and concomitant tenosynovitis, particularly when the radiocarpal joint is involved. Molecular biology techniques may be useful for identifying N. gonorrhoeae in suspected cases. The clinical course may vary and may require surgical washout and prolonged treatment.

- CONCLUSIONS: The program represents a feasible strategy aligned with current ASP certification standards, with the added value of being specifically designed for the pediatric population, a setting where dedicated and validated tools remain a pressing need.

- Hantavirus infection: global overview and current situation in Spain. [Review]Rev Esp Quimioter. 2026 Jul 21. [Online ahead of print]RE
- Hantaviruses are rodent-borne zoonotic RNA viruses with a worldwide distribution and the capacity to cause severe human disease. More than 40 hantavirus species have been identified, of which over 20 are known to be pathogenic to humans. Old World hantaviruses are classically associated with Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS), whereas New World hantaviruses predominantly cause Hantaviru…

- The ICU pharmacist's contribution to antimicrobial optimization through routine pharmacist interventions. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: CCPs identify a substantial number of antimicrobial-related drug problems in the ICU through routine prospective review. The coexistence of overdosing and underdosing interventions reflects the pharmacokinetic complexity of this population. These findings support the formal integration of CCPs into ICU antimicrobial stewardship activities.
