- How-I-do-it: bottom dock eTEP with bilateral TAR for incisional hernia after liver transplantation: early outcomes and feasibility. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with chevron incisional hernias following liver transplantation may be repaired with robotic-assisted eTEP with bilateral TAR. In a cohort of suitable candidates, we report favorable 30-day outcomes.

- SAGES surgical management of gastroparesis: systematic review and expert consensus. [Journal Article]Surg Endosc. 2026 Oct 23. [Online ahead of print]SE
- CONCLUSIONS: The consensus views achieved provide guidance for surgical approaches to medically refractory gastroparesis. The panel also highlighted evidence gaps that warrant research to strengthen the evidence base for surgical treatment strategies for gastroparesis.

- Automated triage of non-informative frames in minimally invasive surgical videos: a comparative study of domain-specific vision transformers versus general-purpose multimodal models. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The EndoViT-initialized ViT performed well in this single-institution dataset, whereas prompt-only LMM performance varied in a separate small benchmark. Matched evaluation with documented exemplar-test separation and external validation is required before determining relative performance or clinical readiness. Automated frame triage may support MIS video management with human oversight.

- Optimizing video review for general surgery residents: a prospective observational study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Attending coach-guided video review is perceived as most useful by residents at all levels. The time investment of attending coaches appears worthwhile, as both junior and senior residents benefit most from guided expert reflection. Incorporating structured video review sessions with attending coaches could enhance surgical residency training in technical skills, decision-making, and self-assessment.

- Exploring perspectives and engagement in space surgery: a survey of SAGES members. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This survey identified a strong interest among the SAGES membership in leading the conversation surrounding space surgery as humanity expands beyond low earth orbit. Numerous opportunities, challenges, and new directions were identified by respondents that will guide the future activities of the task force.

- Hemobezoar-related jejunojejunostomy obstruction after minimally invasive Roux-en-Y gastric bypass: a systematic review. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Hemobezoar-related JJ obstruction after minimally invasive RYGB is uncommon but important. It typically presents within the first postoperative days with obstructive symptoms and evidence of intraluminal bleeding. Across retrospective studies, favorable outcomes were reported following prompt CT diagnosis, early operative exploration, remnant decompression, and minimally invasive clot evacuation with selective anastomotic revision. Prospective validation of this management approach is needed.

- Risk factors for postoperative intra-abdominal abscess following minimally invasive ileocecal resection in children with Crohn's disease. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Postoperative IAA after minimally invasive ICR in children with CD was associated with intraoperative disease severity and surgical complexity. These findings highlight the importance of careful intraoperative assessment and individualized surgical decision-making in patients with complex disease or intraoperative complications.

- Comparison of sexual function and postoperative recovery following V-NOTES versus laparoscopic bilateral tubal ligation and salpingectomy: a randomised controlled trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The lower 6-week FSFI score after V-NOTES reflects the combined effect of surgery and its routine postoperative course, including later resumption of intercourse. It cannot be attributed to the transvaginal route alone. No significant between-group difference in the change in total FSFI score was detected at 6 months; equivalence was not assessed. V-NOTES was associated with less early pain, modestly earlier discharge and longer surgery.

- Anatomical landmark-based proportional coordinate localization in laparoscopic partial nephrectomy for completely endophytic renal tumors. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In the present study, XYZ coordinate-guided localization was associated with shorter intraoperative localization and warm ischemia times and a higher rate of achieving the trifecta than traditional localization. We will conduct prospective multicenter studies to further evaluate its effectiveness and generalizability.

- Transanal natural orifice specimen extraction for restorative minimally invasive total mesorectal excision, enabled by transanal transection and single-stapled anastomosis: a propensity score-matched study of wound complications and postoperative pain. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Transanal NOSE, enabled by TTSS, was associated with fewer wound complications and lower early postoperative pain compared with conventional double-stapled anastomosis and transabdominal specimen extraction following restorative TME for low rectal cancer.

- An updated analysis of discharge opioid-prescribing patterns across surgical specialties in the USA. [Journal Article]Surg Endosc. 2026 Oct 21. [Online ahead of print]SE
- CONCLUSIONS: This study provides an updated descriptive benchmark of postoperative opioid-prescribing patterns across surgical specialties and selected high-volume procedures. This evidence offers a foundation for strategic actions to reduce variation and improve patient care.

- Long-term follow-up in asymptomatic or oligosymptomatic inguinal hernias: watchful or watchless waiting? [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Watchful waiting appears to remain an acceptable management strategy for selected patients with asymptomatic or oligosymptomatic inguinal hernia. However, long-term adherence to surveillance beyond 2 years is low, posing a significant limitation to sustained WW management.

- Targeting indocyanine green where it matters most: a CRP-stratified cohort study in acute cholecystitis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort, ICG's clinical benefit was not uniform across the CRP range. The CRP×ICG interaction reached significance for operative time; for conversion, the pattern was consistent and clinically plausible but not statistically significant, and should be regarded as hypothesis-generating. A CRP-informed strategy for prioritising ICG may be worth testing prospectively.

- Transanal local excision reduces surgical burden without evidence of increased recurrence in lower rectal GIST: a multicenter inverse probability of treatment weighting analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: taLE was associated with substantially reduced surgical burden in selected patients with lower rGIST, and no significant difference in recurrence-free survival was observed during available follow-up. However, with only four events, the study was underpowered to establish oncologic equivalence. The taLE-based organ-preserving pathway may represent a promising option pending confirmation in larger cohorts.
