  • Factors Associated with Adverse Effects of Postoperative TSH-Directed Levothyroxine Therapy in Adults with Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: A Scoping Review. [Review]
    Thyroid. 2026 Oct 22; :10507256261499041. [Online ahead of print]Jay M, Esttaifo F, … Eskander AT
  • CONCLUSIONS: Evidence on adverse effects associated with TSH-directed levothyroxine therapy in DTC is most consistent for skeletal outcomes and predominantly derives from studies evaluating subnormal TSH exposure. The available literature provides limited evidence for clinically applicable prediction of toxicity or cumulative treatment burden. Future longitudinal studies should better characterize the intensity and persistence of biochemical exposure and develop outcome-specific prediction models integrating baseline susceptibility, organ vulnerability, and longitudinal treatment exposure to support individualized TSH management.
  • Precision Thyroid Oncology Using Genetic-Based Therapies: A Narrative Review. [Journal Article]
    Thyroid. 2026 Oct 20; :10507256261497620. [Online ahead of print]Marotta V, Xing M, Vitale MT
  • CONCLUSIONS: Precision oncology is increasingly being integrated into the management of advanced thyroid cancer. However, its impact varies widely across different tumor settings, and its real-world use is strongly influenced by country-specific drug regulations.
  • Radiofrequency Ablation of Calcified Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma: Long-Term Imaging Evolution and Clinical Outcomes. [Journal Article]
Thyroid. 2026 Oct 09; :10507256261494905. [Online ahead of print]Jeong SY, Baek SM, … Baek JHT
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this retrospective cohort, RFA achieved complete resolution of the viable soft-tissue component with a low complication rate in low-risk PTMC, both with and without intratumoral calcification. Technical success was achieved in 100% of tumors regardless of calcification status, and no significant difference in outcomes was observed between the calcified and noncalcified groups. These findings suggest that intratumoral calcification does not preclude effective ablation.
  • RET Variant Reclassification across Demographic Sub-Groups in a Large-Scale Clinical Population. [Journal Article]
Thyroid. 2026 Nov; 36(11):1258-1266.Fergus KB, Richardson ME, … Grubbs EGT
  • CONCLUSIONS: The expansion of RET germline testing coincided with substantial reclassification of VUSs, highlighting the importance of periodic laboratory reassessment. Most reclassifications were benign, which is cautiously reassuring for clinical counseling of patients. Both further characterization of RET variants and society guidance on clinical management of VUS test results are needed as genetic testing continues to expand.
