- ReVita: home-based transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation for reducing pathological fatigue in chronic neurological and post-infectious conditions-study protocol for a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This is to be the first transdiagnostic study to evaluate home-based taVNS as a potential therapeutic approach for pathological fatigue across multiple chronic disease groups. The combination of rigorous blinding, digital monitoring, and parallel assessment of clinical and physiological parameters allows for an in-depth evaluation of both treatment effectiveness and mechanistic correlates. If successful, taVNS could offer a scalable and accessible intervention for a large and underserved patient population.

- The World Health Organization Antenatal CorTicosteroids for Improving Outcomes in preterm Newborns (ACTION-III) trial-rationale for the selected lower steroid dose. [Journal Article]
- Antenatal corticosteroids (ACS), most commonly administered as betamethasone or dexamethasone, remain a cornerstone of care for women at risk of preterm birth. However, the standard 24-mg regimen introduced more than five decades ago has not undergone formal dose-finding evaluation. Emerging concerns regarding possible dose-related adverse effects, particularly among late preterm infants subseque…

- The effects of time-restricted eating in comparison with energy-restricted diet on expression of BMAL-1 and miRNA-let-7f-1-3p genes, circadian rhythm status, sleep quality, metabolic and anthropometric markers in obese women: a study protocol for a randomized controlled clinical trial. [Journal Article]Trials. 2026 Jul 18. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: Since circadian rhythm-related gene expression has a role in circadian rhythm and ultimately obesity regulation, it seems that TRE, as a dietary approach, can affect these gene expressions.

- What statistical methods are more appropriate for predicting recruitment at the design stage of a randomised controlled trial? [Journal Article]Trials. 2026 Jul 17. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: To enhance transparency and reproducibility, it is recommended that RCTs publish the methods and parameters used in recruitment predictions. This may improve their accuracy, thereby reducing the cost and minimising the research waste associated with insufficient recruitment. Further research across a wider range of trials and methods may also be required due to the complexity of factors which influence recruitment and the variability in the accuracy of statistical methods across trials.

- Building Emotional Awareness and Mental Health in Parenting (BEAM): protocol for a parallel-group randomized controlled non-inferiority trial for an app based intervention to improve postpartum mental health and support children's brain development in Western Canada. [Journal Article]Trials. 2026 Jul 17. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: Findings from this study will provide data on the potential efficacy of the BEAM program in supporting parental mental health, child well-being, and neurodevelopment. Results may inform future large-scale trials and may guide the development of accessible, community-based interventions aimed at improving family mental health and child developmental outcomes.

- The measurement and reporting of healing-related outcomes in randomised controlled trials of compression for venous leg ulcers: a systematic review. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: This is the first systematic review to investigate the measurement and reporting of healing-related outcomes in RCTs of compression therapy for people with VLUs. Although healing-related outcomes including complete wound closure were frequently used in the included RCTs, limitations in measuring and reporting were identified. These limitations included frequent collection of surrogate outcomes, limited follow-up periods, inconsistent use of outcome definitions, variation in wound measurement techniques, and lack of assessor masking. Development of a set of guidelines on the measurement and reporting of healing-related outcomes could help to address these limitations.

- CONCLUSIONS: The DIPLOMA-2x2 trial evaluates whether RPD is oncologically safe compared to OPD in patients with upfront resectable PDAC and DCC in experienced high-volume centres.

- Evaluating blinding in trials of endometrial scratching: a randomised nested survey within two randomised controlled trials. [Journal Article]Trials. 2026 Jul 15. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: The sham procedure used in these studies does not appear to have achieved complete blinding; however, there was no evidence that lack of blinding led to impacts on important trial behaviour, such as frequency of intercourse.

- Tracking outcome changes in benign prostatic hyperplasia trials: a version history review of ClinicalTrials.gov records. [Journal Article]Trials. 2026 Jul 16. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: In this registry-based analysis of BPH clinical trials, outcome modifications were universal, occurred exclusively after primary completion, and were never justified in either the registry or corresponding publications. These findings highlight a persistent gap in transparency that could affect the interpretability of trial results. Greater oversight of registry version histories and stronger disclosure standards are needed to ensure the credibility of outcome reporting in BPH research and beyond.

- Practical applicability and effectiveness of passive, back-support exoskeletons in logistics and care: a randomized controlled trial protocol (ELSA LogiCare). [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: When effectively integrated into workplace environments, passive back-support exoskeletons have the potential to significantly alleviate physical strain and enhance efforts to reduce the risks associated with MSDs. Our process evaluation can also help to understand how passive back-support exoskeletons can be successfully integrated into the logistics and care sectors.

- Effects of a calorie-restricted MIND diet and probiotic supplementation on fertility, sexual function, and quality of sexual life in overweight and obese men: protocol for a double-blind randomized clinical trial. [Journal Article]Trials. 2026 Jul 13. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: This trial will provide valuable evidence regarding the potential synergistic effects of the MIND diet and probiotic supplementation in managing male infertility associated with obesity. By evaluating both clinical fertility markers and patient-reported outcomes such as sexual function and quality of life, the study findings are expected to contribute to a better understanding of the role of lifestyle interventions in reproductive health, potentially offering a sustainable therapeutic approach for this population.

- Pinpointing precision: axial length and refraction in paediatric myopia trials-a mixed methods study. [Journal Article]Trials. 2026 Jul 11. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: Whilst the precision of axial length and cycloplegic autorefraction spherical equivalent measurements is similar, cycloplegic autorefraction requires longer study visits and inflicts more discomfort. In the design of future trials, researchers, funders, and regulators should consider increasing trial efficiency by selecting axial length as primary outcome and removing cycloplegic refraction from follow-up assessments.
