- Optimal cannabinoid-terpene combination ratios suppress mutagenicity of gastric reflux in normal and metaplastic esophageal cells. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Modulation of the ECS using systematically selected cannabinoid-terpene ratios can attenuate bile acid-induced esophageal damage and may reduce carcinogenic progression. These findings support further in vivo studies and raise the possibility of expanding cannabinoid-terpene therapeutics to other diseases with comparable pathogenic mechanisms.

- Lessons from extended induction and practical evidence for improving tofacitinib therapy in ulcerative colitis. [Editorial]World J Gastroenterol. 2026 Mar 07; 32(9):115785.WJ
- With the introduction of Janus kinase inhibitors like tofacitinib, the treatment landscape for ulcerative colitis (UC) is changing quickly. Response heterogeneity is still a significant clinical challenge in spite of its quick onset and oral convenience. Extending tofacitinib induction beyond the standard eight weeks can produce significant benefits in a subset of patients without sacrificing saf…

- Diagnosis and management of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis in patients with chronic hepatitis B infection. [Review]
- Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection is a global public health burden, affecting over 250 million persons globally, and is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality due to cirrhosis, hepatic decompensation, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Metabolic syndrome and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is an increasingly common co-morbidity among patients with CHB, a…

- Simultaneous treatment of concomitant achalasia coexisting with epiphrenic diverticulum: The practice of submucosal tunneling technique. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In AC patients with ED + S, submucosal tunneling myotomy with diverticular septotomy can achieve good therapeutic effects. When there is no obvious septum, submucosal tunneling myotomy is an effective method.

- Lianhe Xiaozhi ointment ameliorates metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease via peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha pathway activation. [Journal Article]World J Gastroenterol. 2026 Mar 07; 32(9):114544.WJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Collectively, our findings suggest that LXO exerts therapeutic effects on high-fat diet-induced MASLD at least in part via PPARα pathway activation.

- Perioperative serum carcinoembryonic antigen: Powerful marker for prognostic prediction and adjuvant chemotherapy decision-making in patients with stage II and III colorectal cancer. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Perioperative CEA demonstrate sufficient sensitivity in the prognosis prediction and follow-up of patients with stage II and III CRC. Furthermore, perioperative CEA, especially post-CEA, show promise in guiding adjuvant chemotherapy, suggesting potential for further study.

- Research progress of plant-derived chemical compounds for overcoming pancreatic cancer drug resistance. [Review]World J Gastroenterol. 2026 Mar 07; 32(9):115131.WJ
- Pancreatic cancer, a highly malignant gastrointestinal tumor, has a five-year survival rate of only 10%. With the increasing aging population, its incidence is rising across East Asia, North America, and Europe. Chemotherapy remains a basic strategy of the current treatment regimen for pancreatic cancer. However, the development of multidrug resistance poses a significant challenge, drastically r…

- Traditional Chinese medicine alleviate gastrointestinal symptoms during bismuth quadruple therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection: A complementary perspective. [Letter]World J Gastroenterol. 2026 Mar 07; 32(9):115555.WJ
- Liu et al recently published research suggesting that multistrain probiotics significantly relieved bismuth quadruple therapy (BQT)-associated gastrointestinal symptoms without affecting eradication success. They conducted a rigorous randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, demonstrating that a 4-week regimen of a multistrain probiotic supplement significantly reduced symptoms such as …

- Cholelithiasis represents a common clinical condition within the digestive tract and continues to pose a substantial global health challenge, largely due to its high rate of recurrence and a scarcity of effective non-surgical interventions. Although protein succinylation has been widely characterized as a post-translational modification, its implications in cholelithiasis pathogenesis had remaine…

- Advances in non-invasive biomarkers for pediatric inflammatory bowel disease diagnosis. [Editorial]
- Pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), presents significant diagnostic challenges due to its heterogeneous clinical presentation and reliance on invasive procedures such as endoscopy. Recent studies highlight the potential of non-invasive biomarkers, particularly serum cytokines, for distinguishing pediatric IBD from non-IBD conditi…

- Kill two birds with one stone: Reprogramming tumor microenvironment with growth differentiation factor 11. [Letter]World J Gastroenterol. 2026 Mar 07; 32(9):115259.WJ
- A major driver of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)'s aggressiveness is its ability to hijack the immune system, specifically by recruiting immunosuppressive tumor-associated macrophages. These M2-type macrophages are coerced into promoting tumor growth and metastasis. This study by Escobedo-Calvario et al reveals that the protein growth differentiation factor 11 can effectively "re-educate" these p…
