Abstract	The key issues associated with correcting the refractive derangements are analyzed in the paper; they are: 1) the frequency of refractive defects; 2) a need in preparatory measures targeted at a better diagnostics and an adequate correction choice; and 3) possibilities of full-value correction involving the achievements of modern ophthalmology. The key criteria that can be used to enhance the efficiency of ametropia correction method are described. Advantages and disadvantages of different corrections methods (spectacles and contact lenses and refractive surgeries) were analyzed with regard for the above criteria.
