Abstract	Urologic surgery offers a broad spectrum of reconstructive procedures in males and females. A distinction should be made between constructive surgery as in cases of malformations or transsexualism and reconstructive procedures mainly after extensive tumor resections. Besides the description of different techniques in (re)construction of the external genitalia in females, the following article also addresses considerations concerning the indication for this kind of surgery and discusses some general aspects in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
