Among compounds tested, herbertenediol, cuparenediol, 1,2-diacetoxyherbertene and 2-hydroxy-4-methoxycuparene exhibited significant activity. For 2-hydroxy-4-methoxycuparene, chosen as representative compound, the strong inhibitory activity was related to the inhibition on LPS-induced iNOS mRNA.
