AbstractThe high triglyceride/low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol phenotype is a component of the metabolic syndrome. The obesity epidemic has increased the prevalence of this abnormality. Recognition of this dyslipidemia is increasingly common in pediatric practice. Treatment includes weight management, including the prevention of future excess weight gain, and exercise. Pharmacologic management is rarely required. (JCMS. 2006;1:282-285).
