AbstractThis article describes a case of persistent saliva drooling, and the accompanying chronic angular cheilitis, that is not uncommon in the elderly patient population. A drug therapy and the temporomandibular joint aspect of vertical dimension of occlusion during prosthodontic evaluation and construction are presented. Also described is a method to incorporate a canula into the denture prosthesis to channel the saliva toward the oropharyngeal area for geriatric and handicapped patients who suffer from chronic drooling and angular cheilitis.
