AbstractA meningoencephalocele is a herniation of meninges and brain out of the cranial fossa through a bony defect. Cerebrospinal fluid leakage may occur due to a defect in the wall of the meningoencephalocele. The defect may be traumatic, iatrogenic, or may appear spontaneously. In this report, the authors present an unrecognized transethmoidal meningoencephalocele that resulted in a cerebrospinal fluid leak during dacryocystorhinostomy.
