Adrenocortical oncocytic neoplasm presenting with cushing syndrome: case report. [JOURNAL ARTICLE]

ABSTRACT:
BACKGROUND: Oncocytic neoplasms occur in several organs and they are more commonly described in thyroid, kidney and salivary gland. Oncocytic neoplasms of adrenal cortex are extremely rare and usually non-functioning.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of adrenocortical oncocytic neoplasm with uncertain malignant potential in a 31-year-old man with Cushing syndrome who was operated for a 7 cm adrenal mass. After surgery Cushing syndrome resolved. He is still alive without any metastases one year after surgery.
CONCLUSION: Adrenocortical oncocytic neoplasms must be considered in differential diagnosis in both functioning and nonfunctioning adrenal masses.
