J Fam Pract 2008 Apr; 57(4 Suppl):S1-11; quiz S12.

Vaccine-preventable diseases continue to be a significant cause of morbidity and premature death among adults. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices Recommended Adult Immunization Schedule provides recommendations for 14 vaccine-preventable diseases. This supplement reviews the benefits of immunization against 6 vaccine-preventable diseases that physicians frequently encounter among adult patients: influenza, pneumococcal infections, herpes zoster, human papillomavirus, and hepatitis B.
