AbstractThe bacterial genus Roseomonas comprises species of slow growing gram negative bacteria. Infections in immunocompromised patients have been described, including bacteremias and osteoarticular infections. Few pediatric cases have been described. We report a case of knee septic arthritis due to Roseomonas gilardii in a healthy adolescent following repair of a sports injury, with good response to doxycycline. The isolate was initially misidentified as Bordetella bronchiseptica, corrected later via 16S rDNA sequencing. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of septic arthritis due to Roseomonas gilardi in a healthy pediatric patient.
