AbstractInfant botulism is a rare disease with only 6 cases being reported in the UK up to October 2007. We report two unlinked cases of infant botulism occurring within a single month in the South East of England in 2007and describe the use of real time PCR to detect Clostridium. botulinum neurotoxin genes to assist the diagnostic procedure. One of the cases of infant botulism reported was the first in the UK to be treated with human botulism immune globulin.
