Abstract	Swiss hospitals face two major changes: one is the introduction of DRG as the currency for payment and the other one is the shortage of personnel due to demographic changes. They will do so by strengthening their accounting systems to be able to calculate costs per patient. First steps to attract new personnel are taken withiin the new professional educational system. A third change, the evolving landscape of social health insurance companies, is hard to predict.
