- Modifiable Cardiovascular Risk Factors and Hemorrhagic Presentation in Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas: A Systematic Review With Exploratory Quantitative Synthesis. [Systematic Review]Brain Behav. 2026 Oct; 16(10):e71676.BB
- CONCLUSIONS: Evidence regarding modifiable cardiovascular risk factors in dAVFs is limited, retrospective, and vulnerable to confounding. Angiographic features remain the most reliable predictors of hemorrhagic presentation. Current systemic and therapeutic associations are exploratory and require validation in prospective multicenter studies.

- Osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disorder characterized by excessive osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, which is exacerbated by inflammatory and oxidative stress-associated signaling pathways. Although anti-resorptive drugs are used to prevent excessive bone resorption, their long-term use may cause adverse effects, highlighting the need for alternative pharmacological interventions targeting o…

- Contemporary multicentre validation and comparative performance of Day 1 prognostic scores in acute severe ulcerative colitis. [Multicenter Study]J Crohns Colitis. 2026 Oct 09; 20(10).JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Day 1 prognostic scores demonstrate moderate performance in contemporary ASUC, with differing trade-offs between sensitivity and specificity. These findings support the use of Day 1 risk scores as adjuncts to early clinical decision-making in ASUC.

- Adverse childhood experiences and cyber aggression among college students: the mediating role of psychological resilience and the moderating role of physical exercise. [Journal Article]Front Psychiatry. 2026; 17:1943434.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: A higher cumulative ACE count was associated with higher levels of CA, and the significant positive quadratic term supported an overall upward-curving association. Higher continuous ACE scores were indirectly associated with higher CA through lower PR, while PE strengthened the inverse association between PR and CA. Given the cross-sectional design, these findings should be interpreted as statistical associations rather than causal relationships.

- Childhood Trauma, Recent Stressors, and Risk of Depression Relapse in Late-Life Depression. [Journal Article]Depress Anxiety. 2026; 2026:1455337.DA
- CONCLUSIONS: We found that exposure to emotional neglect in childhood and stressors later in life both were associated with relapse of LLD, and a history of childhood neglect moderated the relationship between recent stressor exposure and relapse. These findings are consistent with, and extend, the robust research evidence base linking psychological neglect with depression in adolescence and adulthood.

- CONCLUSIONS: Upfront ACE was associated with low complication rates and successful bowel management at one year, with 90.0% continuing ACE flushes and no discontinuations attributable to failure of bowel management. These outcomes were achieved within established multidisciplinary colorectal programs and may not be reproducible in settings without comparable longitudinal support. Further investigation is needed to assess long-term success and compliance and to identify populations who would benefit most from this approach.

- Adverse childhood experiences and multidimensional frailty transitions in later life: evidence from three national aging cohorts. [Journal Article]Arch Gerontol Geriatr. 2026 Oct 01; 152:106438. [Online ahead of print]AG
- CONCLUSIONS: ACEs were associated with a higher risk of multidimensional frailty in later life, including distinct frailty patterns and transitions across frailty states. These findings support a life-course approach to frailty prevention, with attention to early-life adversity and multidimensional vulnerability.

- Adverse Childhood Experiences, Allostatic Load, and Adult Health: The Mediating and Moderating Role of Personality in a Nationally Representative US Study. [Journal Article]Biopsychosoc Sci Med. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]BS
- CONCLUSIONS: ACEs are associated with higher allostatic load and morbidity, with neuroticism both mediating and moderating the ACE-morbidity association. Research is needed to determine whether and, if so, when interventions targeting neuroticism may help mitigate the substantial burden of ACEs on lifespan health.

- Beyond the 4 pillars: aldosterone synthase inhibition as a fifth frontier in chronic kidney disease management. [Review]Am J Hypertens. 2026 Oct 01; 39(Supplement_1):S49-S56.AJ
- Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is highly prevalent globally and affects approximately 1 in 10 adults, with a prevalence of 10% globally and ∼14.4% in North America. High blood pressure (BP) is one of the most common causes for the development of CKD. Conversely, hypertension occurs more frequently in patients with CKD and is found to be uncontrolled in 60%-80% of these patients. The rates of resist…

- Chemical pollution from rare earth elements (REEs) has emerged as a significant threat to the stability of freshwater ecosystems. Among these elements, europium oxide (Eu2O3) is widely used across various industrial sectors; however, its specific impacts on fish physiology, health, and immune function remain poorly understood. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Eu2O3 on growth, hepatic m…

- Reducing Spectral Oscillations for Robust Reference Frequency-Based Ultrasound Attenuation Estimation in Harmonic Imaging. [Journal Article]ArXiv. 2026 Aug 12.A
- Ultrasound attenuation coefficient estimation (ACE) has emerged as a quantitative imaging biomarker for noninvasive assessment of hepatic steatosis. A system-independent technique based on spectral normalization, known as the reference frequency method (RFM), was previously proposed to estimate ACE without requiring a well-calibrated reference phantom. Furthermore, incorporating harmonic imaging …

- Adverse and Positive Childhood Experiences and Suicidal Ideation in US Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Review]
- Suicide is a leading cause of premature death among US youth, and suicidal thoughts can emerge before adolescence. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are established risk factors for suicidal ideation, while positive childhood experiences (PCEs) and related protective factors may reduce risk, yet no prior synthesis has quantified these associations across independent US pediatric and adolescent…
