  • Radiological protection, optimisation and regulatory reform. [Journal Article]
    J Radiol Prot. 2026 Oct 01; 46(4).Martinez NEJR
  • The principle of optimisation of protection is a cornerstone of the system of radiological protection (RP). The practical implementation and interpretation of optimisation, particularly at low doses and dose rates, is a long-recognised challenge and has often been subject to robust and spirited debate. At present, we seem to have unprecedented interest and momentum for reflection on RP recommenda…
  • Effects of recumbency and tube current on image quality of canine elbow computed tomography. [Journal Article]
Front Vet Sci. 2026; 13:1914425.Bellekom SR, Dekkers M, Beukers MFV
  • CONCLUSIONS: Lateral recumbency, scanning the elbows separately with head and neck flexed caudally, provides superior objective image quality, and increased tube current does not compensate for suboptimal positioning. The observer-perceived advantage for bone conspicuity was inconsistent. For routine orthopedic CT focused on the medial coronoid process, dorsal recumbency remains a reasonable choice; lateral recumbency should be preferred when artifact reduction or soft-tissue evaluation is clinically important.
