- Associations between SARC-F score and FRAX score in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: A cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Sarcopenia risk, as measured by SARC-F, is significantly associated with increased FRAX-estimated fracture risk in RA patients. Incorporating SARC-F into routine assessments may improve early identification of patients at high fracture risk. Key Points • Sarcopenia is common in rheumatoid arthritis and is frequently under-detected. • Higher sarcopenia risk is associated with poorer bone health and increased fracture probability. • Simple screening tools, such as SARC-F, may help identify RA patients at elevated fracture risk earlier in clinical practice.

- Revisited Pharmacokinetic Profiles of Methylprednisolone in Plasma and Urine After Single and Multiple Oral Administrations: Relevance in Sports Drug Testing. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study confirms that the current urinary minimum reporting level of 30 ng/mL is appropriate for detecting oral MP use while minimizing the risk of false adverse analytical findings. The results also support the adequacy of the current 3-day washout period. Modern liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis and combined plasma-urine pharmacokinetic modeling provided robust evidence that MP is rapidly eliminated, extensively metabolized, and associated with transient cortisol suppression after oral administration.

- Autoantibodies combined with systemic inflammation markers for predicting bone metastases in non-small cell lung cancer patients. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1747604.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: The nomogram developed in this study offers a reliable tool for individualized risk prediction of bone metastasis in NSCLC patients. Incorporating autoantibody and inflammation-related biomarkers significantly enhances the predictive performance, which may help in risk stratification and early intervention.

- Automated extraction of the plane of minimal hiatal dimensions and mid-sagittal plane from 3D transperineal ultrasound. [Journal Article]Med Phys. 2026 May; 53(5):e70473.MP
- CONCLUSIONS: We developed an automated 3D segmentation and multiple plane extraction method of female pelvic floor 3D US images. Our method extracts the MS plane and PMHD from 3D US images. The proposed algorithm pipeline can improve the efficiency and reproducibility of TPUS analysis for pelvic floor disorder diagnosis and treatment.

- Construction and validation of a risk prediction model for recurrent pregnancy losses in patients with positive antiphospholipid antibodies. [Journal Article]J Reprod Immunol. 2026 Jun; 175:104887.JR
- To identify independent risk factors for recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) among antiphospholipid antibody (aPL)-positive individuals who were either in early pregnancy (≤12 weeks' gestation) or not pregnant, and to develop and validate a risk prediction model to support early clinical risk stratification and intervention. We retrospectively analyzed 197 aPL-positive patients with a history of adver…

- Non-invasive brain stimulation of cerebellar and cortical targets: A systematic review and ALE meta-analysis of cognitive and connectivity outcomes in adults. [Systematic Review]Neurosci Biobehav Rev. 2026 Jul; 186:106688.NB
- CONCLUSIONS: NIBS modulates networks functionally linked to the cerebellum during cognitive tasks, with heterogeneous, protocol-dependent effects. Notably, cortical stimulation causally shifts cerebro-cerebellar connectivity, with convergent clusters in left occipito-parietal cortex and right TPJ. Greater standardization and identification of response predictors are required to advance mechanistic understanding and clinical translation.

- Semantic segmentation of light-toned veins in multimodal ChemCam data. [Journal Article]
- Since the Mars Science Laboratory landed in 2012, the ChemCam instrument aboard the rover has collected in-situ laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) data and context images along more than 35 km of the Gale Crater traverse, providing valuable observations including diagenetic features such as light-toned veins. These veins are of particular scientific interest because they are interpreted …

- Neuroendocrine tumour morphology and platelet derived growth factor receptor alpha expression. [Journal Article]Exp Mol Pathol. 2026 Jun; 146:105037.EM
- The strong propensity for lymphatic and distant metastases in gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumours (GEP-NETS) often precludes cure for many patients. Platelet derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRA) is commonly overexpressed in metastatic GEP-NETs and has been targeted in clinical trials, but there have been no direct mechanistic studies of PDGFRA cell signalling in neuroendocrine tumour…

- The coconut water market continues to expand, but industrial supply is constrained by the high perishability of fresh coconut water and the need for stabilization routes that preserve quality. This study optimized crossflow microfiltration of coconut water using a silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic membrane, high permeability, chemical/thermal robustness, and cleanability, and assessed the techno-econ…

- Electrolyte-amino acid interplay in the stability mechanisms of halophilic proteins. [Review]J Mol Biol. 2026 Feb 15; 438(4):169651.JM
- Proteins of halophilic microorganisms thrive in high-salt environments. Compared to mesophilic proteins, they are enriched in acidic residues and small polar/apolar amino acids while being depleted in large hydrophobic residues, features that strongly influence their structure and stability. Here we critically examine experimental and computational studies investigating the mechanistic connection…
