- Multi-metal co-exposure and type 2 diabetes: integrating biomonitoring evidence, inflammatory mechanisms, and a framework for future risk stratification. [Review]Environ Geochem Health. 2026 Oct 04; 48(15).EG
- Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 prevalence is still increasing around the world, and there is growing evidence of the role of environmental co-exposures to heavy metals-cadmium, lead, arsenic, mercury, and chromium-in glycaemia impairment. Contrarily to studies on single metal toxicology, real-life situations consist in exposure to mixtures of heavy metals through environmental, occupational and dietary…

- NOISY MRI RECONSTRUCTION VIA MAP ESTIMATION WITH AN IMPLICIT DEEP-DENOISER PRIOR. [Journal Article]Proc Int Conf Image Proc. 2026; 2026.PI
- Accelerating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) remains challenging, particularly under realistic acquisition noise. While diffusion models have recently shown promise for reconstructing undersampled MRI data, many approaches lack an explicit link to the underlying MRI physics, and their parameters are sensitive to measurement noise, limiting their reliability in practice. We introduce Implicit-MAP…

- Advancing Ultrasound Beamforming With Deep Learning: A Comprehensive Review of Methods, Datasets, Benchmarks, and Computational Challenges. [Review]Int J Biomed Imaging. 2026; 2026:4617573.IJ
- Ultrasound imaging is a widely used diagnostic tool, and beamforming techniques are integral to its performance. Traditional methods such as delay-and-sum (DAS) and delay-multiply-and sum (DMAS) have limitations in terms of image quality and computational efficiency. Recently, deep learning approaches have shown significant promise in improving ultrasound beamforming, offering enhanced image reso…

- Evaluating Image Quality of Cone Beam Computed Tomography Using HyperSight® on the Varian TrueBeam. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The HyperSight upgrade provided minor image quality enhancements but demonstrated no clear clinical advantage. Nevertheless, findings support the potential of HyperSight for offline ART. However, further investigations in patient-based applications are needed to confirm its clinical value.

- Fathers, not mothers: the male singing voice and the preterm brain's response to song in the NICU. [Journal Article]Pediatr Res. 2026 Oct 03. [Online ahead of print]PR
- CONCLUSIONS: The preterm cortex followed the male (father's foremost) low, spectrally full voice, providing a robust signal, pointing somewhere concrete: fathers, among the most sidelined figures in the NICU, may hold a defined, testable role in their own infant's care.

- Role of self-management among virally suppressed and unsuppressed adolescents living with HIV in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. [Journal Article]AIDS Care. 2026 Oct 03; :1-10. [Online ahead of print]AC
- Globally, significant progress toward ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic includes advances in HIV treatment, converting a fatal infection to a chronic disease. Adolescents living with HIV (AWHIV) continue to underachievein HIV viral suppression (VS) needed to remain healthy. This cross-sectional study aimed to examine the role of self-management and related factors in VS among AWHIV aged 15-19 years in…

- Ultrafast plane-wave imaging (PWI) trades image quality for frame rate under sparse acquisitions. Existing deep learning-based PWI reconstruction methods are limited by the lack of physics-guided degradation modeling, leading to distortions in anatomical structures and speckle statistics. In addition, an inherent low-frequency spectral bias attenuates high-frequency components, further exacerbati…

- Evaluating Weight and Body Mass Index Changes in Women Conceiving with Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Consecutive Pregnancies: A Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Matern Child Health J. 2026 Oct 03. [Online ahead of print]MC
- CONCLUSIONS: Participant PP weight, PP BMI, and DL weight increased from P1 to P2 while the overall rates of achieving the recommended GWG did not. Future prospective studies are needed to determine whether prevention of interpregnancy weight gain and optimization of GWG in ART patients are associated with improved maternal and neonatal outcomes.

- Clinical characteristics and outcomes of localized versus disseminated nontuberculous mycobacterial disease in people living with HIV, 2004-2025. [Journal Article]Infection. 2026 Oct 03. [Online ahead of print]I
- CONCLUSIONS: NTM disease was largely a complication of late-diagnosed or untreated HIV. Disseminated disease was associated with higher crude mortality and recurrence, and nearly half of deaths occurred within three months of diagnosis. These findings indicate the need for prospective evaluation of interventions to facilitate earlier HIV diagnosis, rapid ART initiation, adherence support, and close follow-up after NTM diagnosis.

- Mapping Clinical Intent in Internet Hospitals: Identifying and Profiling Patient Demand via Natural Language Processing. [Journal Article]Comput Struct Biotechnol J. 2026; 35(2):0132.CS
- Patient-generated text in internet hospitals represents a massive but unstructured source of clinical demand. Misalignment between rigid administrative menus and actual patient intent leads to triage inefficiency and resource mismatches. We developed a hybrid artificial intelligence framework to decode patient needs and optimize service allocation using real-world data from a tertiary internet ho…

- ThrombUS+ Project: Toward Wearable Continuous Point-of-Care Monitoring for Deep Vein Thrombosis of the Lower Limb. [Journal Article]Comput Struct Biotechnol J. 2026; 35(2):0082.CS
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is characterized by the formation of blood clots in the deep veins, most commonly in the lower limbs, obstructing blood flow. In about 50% of cases, the clot dislodges and travels to the lungs, causing potentially fatal pulmonary embolism. Diagnosing DVT is challenging, as up to half of cases are asymptomatic. Early and accurate diagnosis is critical, but the current st…

- Multiscale cross modal fusion and cascaded signal propagation for drug target interaction prediction. [Journal Article]iScience. 2026 Oct 16; 29(10):117576.I
- Accurate prediction of drug-target interaction (DTI) facilitates the translation of lead compounds into clinical therapeutics. Despite progress in deep learning, two challenges remain: the representation gap between heterogeneous drug and protein modalities and insufficient use of complementary knowledge from pretrained encoders. To address these issues, we propose SF-DTI, a unified framework tha…

- Enrichment of the TRIM21-IgG complex in placental villi during HIV-1 infection. [Journal Article]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1922263.FI
- CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, our findings unveil a localized upregulation of antiviral TRIM factors at the maternal-fetal interface and highlight a novel enrichment of TRIM21-IgG complexes within the chorionic villi. This specialized intracellular synergy between innate and humoral mechanisms opens promising avenues for therapeutic and protective strategies against vertical viral transmission.

- Perceived social support and resilient mindset among Chinese undergraduates: the chain mediating roles of self-efficacy and meaning in life. [Journal Article]Front Psychol. 2026; 17:1882711.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: The findings advance PP2.0 by positioning resilience not as an outcome of adaptation, but as a higher-order cognitive associated with the integration of social and existential resources. The supported sequential pathway ("perceived social support → self-efficacy → meaning in life → resilient mindset") specifies a theoretically integrated mechanism in which agency-based confidence is associated with existential meaning-making, jointly culminating in resilient cognition. This study shifts resilience research from outcome description to generative explanation, offering a structural model of resilient cognition under conditions of social uncertainty.
