- Metabolite remodeling of age-stratified immature citrus peel (Qingpi) by pectinase hydrolysis: antioxidant activity and protection against ethanol-induced HepG2 cell injury. [Journal Article]Food Funct. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]FF
- Pectinase-assisted processing may enhance the functional value of immature citrus peel (Qingpi, QCP), but the links between matrix degradation, metabolite remodeling, and bioactivity remain unclear. QCP aged for 1, 3, 7, and 10 years and their corresponding pectinase hydrolysates (QCPEH) were evaluated using antioxidant assays, an ethanol-injured HepG2 model, metabolite profiling, chemical-space …

- Hepatoprotective Effects of Maillard Reaction Products From Perinereis aibuhitensis: Identification and Metabolomic Insights in a Mouse Model of Alcoholic Liver Disease. [Journal Article]Food Sci Nutr. 2026 Oct; 14(10):e72417.FS
- Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is a major global health burden with limited therapeutic options. The primary aim of this study was to investigate the hepatoprotective effects of Maillard reaction products derived from Perinereis aibuhitensis (P-MRPs) in a mouse model of chronic alcohol-induced liver injury. Male ICR mice were fed a Lieber-DeCarli alcoholic liquid diet for 6 weeks with or without P…

- Regulating ferroptosis: the impact of stevia on alleviating liver damage in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. [Journal Article]Mol Biol Rep. 2026 Oct 08; 53(1).MB
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that aquatic Stevia extract on diabetic rats through modulation of the ferroptosis pathway, highlighting its potential therapeutic benefits in diabetes-related liver complications.

- Hydroxysafflor yellow A attenuates microcirculatory disturbance in MAFLD via the EGFR/MAPK1 pathway. [Journal Article]Naunyn Schmiedebergs Arch Pharmacol. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]NS
- The incidence of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) continues to rise, making it a leading cause of chronic liver disease worldwide. Its pathological progression is frequently accompanied by microcirculatory dysfunction. However, effective therapeutic interventions targeting this specific process remain limited. Hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) is the primary active component of Carth…

- Protective effects of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and 5-methoxyindole-3-acetic acid against diquat-induced acute liver injury involve activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway. [Journal Article]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1904443.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: LGG mitigates DQ-induced acute liver injury by activating the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway and reducing oxidative stress, while 5-MIAA may represent a potential bioactive compound with similar hepatoprotective effects. These findings provide mechanistic support for probiotic-based strategies in toxicant-induced liver injury.

- Cirrhotic Cardiomyopathy: Proportion and Correlation with Liver Fibrosis Severity. [Journal Article]Acta Med Indones. 2026 Jul; 58(3):393-401.AM
- CONCLUSIONS: Diastolic dysfunction is the most common early manifestation found in cirrhotic cardiomyopathy. Liver fibrosis, assessed by APRI and FIB-4, was positively correlated with increased left atrial volume index.

- Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Disease and Genetic Risk in Germany-An Observational Real-World Cohort Study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: By analysing a real-world MASLD cohort in Germany, we further underscore the role of the PNPLA3 variant as the central genetic trigger and modulator of MASLD. The HSD17B13 polymorphism may exert protective effects in MASLD and could attenuate some PNPLA3-associated effects.

- In Vivo Acute and Subchronic Toxicity of Stereospermum acuminatissimum Stem Bark Aqueous Extract. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: S. acuminatissimum aqueous extract reduces body weight gain and improves lipid profiles at low-to-moderate doses (150-300 mg/kg), providing its traditional use. However, the persistence of elevated ALT levels and focal leucocyte infiltration in males at 600 mg/kg indicates high-dose hepatotoxicity, highlighting a narrow therapeutic window and the need for careful liver function monitoring during prolonged exposure.

- Late TNFα blockade is associated with systemic immune rewiring without disease control in established experimental autoimmune hepatitis. [Journal Article]
- Recent human studies have identified TNFα as a therapeutically targetable pathway in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), but the consequences of TNFα blockade may depend on treatment timing and disease context. Whether TNFα neutralization can restore disease control once autoimmune liver inflammation is already established remains unclear. Here, we investigated late TNFα blockade in experimental autoimmu…

- Serologically supported pediatric brucellosis presenting with marked conjugated hyperbilirubinemia and marked systemic inflammation: A case report. [Case Reports]IDCases. 2026; 46:e02783.I
- Brucellosis is a multisystem zoonosis that can mimic complicated bacterial infection in children. A 10-year-old girl presented with prolonged high-grade fever, jaundice, abdominal pain, anorexia and weight loss. The initial syndrome was managed empirically as an undifferentiated complicated bacterial illness because enteric fever and a hepatobiliary or intra-abdominal source were considered. CRP …

- Maternal protein restriction during lactation programs peripheral insulin sensitivity and reduces UCP1 abundance in interscapular brown adipose tissue of adult male Wistar rats. [Journal Article]J Dev Orig Health Dis. 2026 Oct 07; 17:e45.JD
- Maternal protein restriction during lactation is associated with stunted growth and hyperphagia in adult offspring, yet its long-term effects on mitochondrial uncoupling-related proteins in interscapular brown adipose tissue (iBAT) remain unknown. This study investigated how postnatal protein undernutrition affects thermogenic regulators and metabolic programming in adult males. Dams received eit…

- Association of inflammatory markers with abnormal liver biochemistry in hospitalized patients with COVID-19: a cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Abnormal liver biochemistry was common in this cohort of hospitalized patients with COVID-19. Ferritin showed the most consistent association with hepatic biochemical abnormalities, supporting its potential value as a marker of inflammation-related liver involvement in this population. Prospective studies with standardized laboratory assessment are needed to confirm temporality and clinical utility.
