  • Photocrosslinkable and ultrasound-responsive composite hydrogels for osteoporotic bone defect repair. [Journal Article]
    J Mater Chem B. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]Yang Y, Liu Y, … Liu GJM
  • Osteoporotic bone defects pose a threat to the lives of senior citizens, leading to prolonged hospitalization and increased cardiovascular risks due to imbalances in the bone tissue microenvironment. This study established a multifunctional composite system integrating ultrasound-responsive microsphere carriers and photocrosslinkable hydrogel substrates. The microsphere with PVP/ALG (1 : 1) group…
  • Treatment of male osteoporosis: a narrative review and position statement by the ECTS Clinical Action Group. [Journal Article]
J Bone Miner Res. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]Sølling AS, Paccou J, … Lems WFJB
  • Osteoporosis in men is under-recognized and under-treated despite a substantial disease burden and poorer fracture-related outcomes than in women. Secondary osteoporosis is highly prevalent in men, making the identification and management of underlying causes essential. Bone mineral density (BMD) and fracture risk are influenced by sex-specific patterns of skeletal growth and age-related bone los…
  • Cardiovascular Safety Signals of Osteoporosis Therapies: A FAERS Pharmacovigilance Study. [Journal Article]
    Mediterr J Rheumatol. 2026 Sep; 37(3):598-602.Sondhi M, Singh N, … Hughes GMJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Romosozumab and zoledronic acid demonstrated prominent cardiovascular disproportionality signals in FAERS, whereas denosumab, abaloparatide, and teriparatide showed more favorable reporting profiles. These findings should not discourage osteoporosis treatment but underscore the importance of individualised cardiovascular risk assessment and the need for further prospective evaluation to inform safe therapy selection.
  • Effect of bisphosphonates on orthodontic tooth movement: an umbrella review. [Systematic Review]
    BMC Oral Health. 2026 Jul 02; 26(1).Amin S, Cremona M, Abela SBO
  • CONCLUSIONS: Available evidence, derived predominantly from animal studies, consistently indicates that BPs reduce OTM. Human evidence remains very limited and is insufficient to support firm clinical recommendations. Well-designed prospective human studies are needed to clarify the clinical implications of BP use during orthodontic treatment.
