- From "passive burden-bearing" to "active benefit-gaining": exploring the psychological growth paths of female caregivers of advanced lung cancer patients. [Journal Article]Support Care Cancer. 2026 Oct 03; 34(10).SC
- CONCLUSIONS: Female caregivers of patients with lung cancer demonstrated clear benefit-finding experiences throughout the caregiving process. These findings underscore the importance of supporting caregivers in developing adaptive coping strategies, strengthening caregiving skills, and addressing both the physical and psychological needs of patients. Facilitating positive psychological adjustment and mobilizing supportive resources can not only promote patient self-management and well-being but also enhance caregivers' perceived benefits and reduce caregiving stress.

- Long-term clinical and biomarker observations following rituximab exposure in two siblings with CSF1R-related leukoencephalopathy: a preliminary familial case series. [Journal Article]Commun Med (Lond). 2026 Sep 30; 6(1).CM
- CONCLUSIONS: In this preliminary familial case series of two siblings carrying the same CSF1R variant, RTX exposure was followed by long-term clinical stability and favorable biomarker trajectories. Patient 1 had a pre-treatment disease course of approximately 13 years, indicating an inherently slow disease progression that cannot be entirely separated from the treatment effect in an uncontrolled observation.

- Self-Assembling Peptide-Adjuvant Conjugate (SaPAC) Platform for Precision Cancer Immunotherapy. [Journal Article]Adv Sci (Weinh). 2026 Oct 02; :e77632. [Online ahead of print]AS
- Peptide cancer vaccines often suffer from poor lymphatic drainage, limited antigen-presenting cell uptake, and weak innate immune activation. To overcome these barriers, we engineered the Self-Assembling Peptide-Adjuvant Conjugate (SaPAC) platform, which covalently links neoantigen epitopes to the TLR7 agonist 1V209 through site-selective lysine conjugation. Synthesized by Fmoc solid-phase peptid…

- High-sensitivity heavy metal toxicity detection by Acinetobacter baylyi C8: Association with EPS protein deficiency. [Journal Article]Bioresour Technol. 2026 Oct 02; :135994. [Online ahead of print]BT
- Heavy metal contamination remains a persistent threat to water quality and ecological safety. Although electroactive microorganism (EAM)-based sensing technologies have shown promise for toxicity monitoring, their practical application is constrained by limited sensitivity. Here, we developed a strategy to improve monitoring performance by identifying and exploiting heavy metal-sensitive EAMs fro…

- Pancreatic Cancer Cachexia: Integrating Mechanistic Insights With Clinical Management. [Review]JCO Oncol Pract. 2026 Oct 02; :OP2600673. [Online ahead of print]JO
- Cachexia is a multifactorial syndrome characterized by systemic inflammation, weight loss, and muscle wasting, affecting over 80% of patients with pancreatic cancer. It decreases treatment tolerance, quality of life, and survival. Yet, despite its well-recognized detrimental impact, cachexia remains underdiagnosed and undertreated in oncology clinics. This review synthesizes current understanding…

- Combination treatment with RAF/MEK inhibitor avutometinib and FAK inhibitor defactinib in preclinical models of meningioma. [Journal Article]Neurooncol Adv. 2026 Jan-Dec; 8(1):vdag210.NA
- CONCLUSIONS: Avutometinib demonstrated robust anti-tumor effects in flank and intracranial models of MAPK-altered meningioma. Combination benefits were context dependent. Defactinib activity in NF2-mutant patient-derived cells without targetable MAPK-kinase alterations highlights the importance of genomic biomarkers to guide personalized strategies.

- Cancer Survival at a Comprehensive Cancer Center Compared With Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Estimates. [Journal Article]Am J Med Open. 2026 Dec; 16:100138.AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: We found that cancer survival benefits were associated with patient care at an individual NCI-CCC employing state-of-the-art therapies and modern care. This work also highlights an opportunity to make adjusted survival outcomes more accessible to patients, complementing other types of comparative data now available. Further research could help to identify the drivers of observed survival advantages and promote the development of better guidelines and care models to improve outcomes for all patients.

- Consensus statement on the management of Achondroplasia in the Middle East. [Review]Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1888346.FE
- Achondroplasia is the most common skeletal dysplasia and presents as a lifelong, multi-system condition characterized by disproportionate short stature, rhizomelic limb shortening, macrocephaly with frontal bossing, and a spectrum of neurological, respiratory, orthopedic, and psychosocial complications. Effective management requires anticipatory surveillance, coordinated multidisciplinary care, a…

- Effectiveness of green health prescribing and nature-based interventions in primary care and community settings for older adults: a systematic review of health, wellbeing and social outcomes. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Evidence supporting the effectiveness of Green Health Prescribing and nature-based interventions for older adults remains limited. Given continued policy priority and funding for green space prescribing, high-quality pragmatic trials and implementation studies are needed, particularly among older adults, to robustly assess health outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and healthcare resource use in routine practice for Green Health Prescribing as a referral option in primary and community care.

- Emerging imaging and computational technologies are reshaping how osteoporosis and low bone mass are assessed. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is key for the operational definition of osteoporosis, but advances in single-component tools such as finite element analysis, trabecular bone score, DXA-based 3D shape modelling, quantitative ultrasound, radiofrequency echographic multi-spectrometr…

- Soil underpins food production, freshwater, carbon storage and biodiversity, yet over 40% of the world's soils are now degraded, eroding at rates up to 1000 times their formation rate. Microbial technologies have matured and can now aid soil recovery, but deployment has lagged due to absent shared targets, harmonized metrics, and coherent reward structures to mobilize solvers across academia, ind…

- Timing of Do-Not-Resuscitate Order Establishment Varies by Illness Trajectory and Clinical Context in Children Receiving Palliative Care: A Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]
- Background Do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders in pediatrics are frequently analyzed as static outcomes, although they emerge through a longitudinal process shaped by evolving illness trajectories and repeated clinical encounters. Our primary objectives were to characterize the time from the first pediatric palliative care (PPC) consultation to formal DNR order establishment and to identify associate…
