  • Ankle Proprioception, Dual-Task Balance Performance, and Ageing: A Cross-Sectional Study. [Review]
Percept Mot Skills. 2026 Aug 13; :315125261477353. [Online ahead of print]Koch MT, Marquez JL, … Snodgrass SJPM
  • Balance is reliant on key sensory information to maintain postural control. Proprioception is one of the key sensory inputs that influence postural control during static balance tasks. Poor proprioception can lead to impaired balance, which may be amplified under dual-task balance conditions. This study investigates this relationship between proprioception and dual-task balance performance and ho…
  • Assessment of Sport-Related Brain Injuries with Rapid Objective Perimetry. [Journal Article]
    Bioengineering (Basel). 2026 Jun 25; 13(7).Rai BB, Sabeti F, … Maddess TB
  • Sport-related mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) or concussion is common and has long-term implications. The lack of diagnostically accurate, rapid, and easy-to-administer tests exacerbates the problem. We evaluated the objectiveFIELD Analyser® (OFA®) for mTBI. This cross-sectional study included athletes who had sustained a concussion, and two groups of controls: the putative control group (pCG)…
  • Self-Reported Genetic Discrimination: Experiences from a Large National Sample of Working Adults. [Journal Article]
    Public Health Genomics. 2026; 29(1):289-297.Blasco D, McCain S, … Roberts JSPH
  • CONCLUSIONS: Many respondents self-reported GD experiences, most commonly among certain racial/ethnic groups and those with a history of genetic testing and common diseases. As self-reports do not necessarily constitute legally recognizable GD instances, research and education should further examine such experiences. Education on genetic antidiscrimination protections, including information about what GD entails, existing policies, and limitations, should be a target for medical providers (e.g., genetic counselors) and employers who may offer wGT.
  • Prognostic survival models for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma using statistical and machine learning approaches. [Journal Article]
NPJ Precis Oncol. 2026 Jul 16. [Online ahead of print]Alem AZ, Mohanty I, … Niyonsenga TNP
  • Although diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a heterogeneous disease, existing prognostic tools, including the revised International Prognostic Index (R-IPI) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN-IPI), do not fully capture the heterogeneity and their performance in the competing-risks framework has not been validated. We developed and validated prognostic models for overall sur…
  • Clinical phenotypes of type 2 diabetes and their association with microvascular complications in primary care: a cluster analysis. [Journal Article]
BMC Prim Care. 2026 Jul 06; 27(1).Díaz Vera AS, Abellán Alemán J, … Alonso Salinas GLBP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Three clinically interpretable diabetes phenotypes were identified in a real-world primary care population and were associated with different patterns of prevalent microvascular complications. The metabolic phenotype showed the highest prevalence and higher adjusted odds of both retinopathy and nephropathy, while the hypertensive phenotype showed a more selective association with retinopathy. These findings suggest that routinely collected primary care data can be used to describe clinically meaningful patterns of co-occurrence between type 2 diabetes phenotypes and microvascular complications. Given the cross-sectional design, these findings should not be interpreted as predictive or causal, and longitudinal studies and external validation are required before these phenotypes can be considered for clinical implementation.
  • Age equality in UK healthcare policy and decision-making: a scoping review. [Journal Article]
    BMC Med Ethics. 2026 Jun 24; 27(1).Lignou S, Thompson R, … Heath CBM
  • CONCLUSIONS: It remains unclear whether and how key ethical tensions in the pursuit of age equality are resolved by decision-makers. To support a more consistent and transparent approach to age equality in healthcare, efforts should focus on strengthened decision-making processes and clearer operational guidance. The routine use of age-sensitive equality impact assessments across services could enable a more systematic identification of age-related health inequalities and inequities that may be overlooked across the lifecourse.
