  • Early Neurodevelopmental Outcomes in Children With Congenital Heart Disease. [Journal Article]
    JAMA Netw Open. 2026 Jun 01; 9(6):e2615885.Seed M, Ilardi D, … Miller TJN
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this cross-sectional study of early neurodevelopmental outcomes in children with congenital heart disease, there was significant variation in neurodevelopmental outcomes according to cardiac diagnosis; regardless of cardiac diagnosis, the presence of a genetic diagnosis was associated with lower neurodevelopmental scores. The heterogeneous outcomes found in this study reinforce the importance of surveillance for all infants undergoing heart surgery in the first year of life.
  • Mapping the Cognitive Constructs Assessed by the Allen Cognitive Level Screen: A Scoping Review. [Review]
Psychol Res Behav Manag. 2026; 19:593468.Liu GH, Pordage L, … Ma WFPR
  • CONCLUSIONS: The ACLS demonstrates reliable associations with integrated cognitive processes, particularly global functioning, executive abilities, and attention-processing capacities, rather than discrete cognitive components. These findings suggest the ACLS may reflect observable patterns of sensorimotor information processing during purposeful activity. Clinicians should therefore interpret ACLS results as a complement to, rather than a substitute for, traditional domain-specific cognitive assessments, particularly when precise differentiation of cognitive deficits is required for treatment planning. Critical gaps in structural validity research and ACLS-6 which currently constrain definitive conclusions regarding the instrument's construct validity.
  • Transcriptomic signatures of gray matter volume loss in cerebral small vessel disease. [Journal Article]
    BMC Neurol. 2026 Feb 12; 26(1).Qin R, Cheng K, … Wang LBN
  • BACKGROUND: White matter hyperintensities (WMHs) are a hallmark imaging sign of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) and are closely linked to motor and cognitive deficits. Using voxel‑based morphometry (VBM) together with spatial transcriptomics, this study explored the altered molecular pathways underlying the reduction in gray matter volume (GMV) associated with WMHs. METHODS: We included 25 p…
