- Paricalcitol Attenuates Bleomycin-induced Pulmonary Fibrosis: Insights from Immunohistochemical and Molecular Genetic Analysis. [Journal Article]Endocr Metab Immune Disord Drug Targets. 2026; 26:e18715303434362.EM
- CONCLUSIONS: Paricalcitol markedly reduces fibrosis severity, as shown through histopathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular genetic analyses. The treatment decreased the expression of key fibrotic and inflammatory markers, including TGF-β, MMP9, IL-1β, and TNF-α, and shifted macrophage polarization toward an anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype. These findings suggest paricalcitol's potential in modulating the immune response and highlight its therapeutic promise.

- Effect of Dietary Nitrogen-to-Sulfur Ratio on Rumen Microbiota, Metabolites, and Ruminal Antioxidant Status in Tibetan Sheep. [Journal Article]
- Optimizing the dietary nitrogen-to-sulfur (N:S) ratio is crucial for enhancing ruminal microbial fermentation and nutrient digestibility. This study investigated the effects of different dietary N:S ratios on ruminal antioxidant indices, digestive enzyme activities, immune parameters, volatile fatty acid (VFA) profiles, microbial communities, and metabolomic profiles in plateau-type Tibetan sheep…

- Cytotoxic Activity and In Silico Study of Secondary Metabolites Derived from Dactylospongia elegans. [Journal Article]
- Breast cancer remains a major global health burden. Dactylospongia species have been explored for their cytotoxic potential. This study aims to evaluate the cytotoxic potential of compounds derived from the marine sponge Dactylospongia elegans. Dactylospongia elegans were collected from the Lembeh Strait, macerated using methanol, then partitioned to an ethyl acetate fraction. The cytotoxic activ…

- Dietary Vitamin D2 Is Less Potent Than Vitamin D3 at Maintaining or Restoring Structure and Metabolism of Skeletal Muscle and Heart in Male Rats. [Journal Article]
- Vitamin D (VD) deficiency is prevalent globally. To improve dietary recommendations for food fortification, we used male rats fed with diets depleted of VD or supplemented/rehabilitated with either vitamin D2 or vitamin D3 or combination, and compared their impact on calcium homeostasis, skeletal muscle and heart. Body composition was assessed by DEXA, muscle strength by grip test. Serum calcium,…

- Co-Clinical Evaluation of Synthetic Vitamin D and Chemotherapy in Pancreatic Cancer by Integrated Imaging and Molecular Analyses. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings support further investigations of stromal-directed combination strategies to overcome chemotherapy-induced resistance of PDAC. Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI may provide a valuable platform to monitor stromal adaptations to therapy in vivo.

- Efficacy and safety of doxercalciferol (1α hydroxyvitamin D2) on spine and femur bone mineral density in postmenopausal osteopenic women. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: The results show that doxercalciferol treatment showed no difference from the placebo group on bone loss at 12 months; however, at 24 months, doxercalciferol showed significant prevention of bone loss from the femoral neck and spine.

- LC-MS/MS outperforms ELISA and UPLC-PDA for targeted quantification of 25(OH)D2 and 25(OH)D3 in human milk: A practical analytical strategy. [Journal Article]Food Res Int. 2026 Oct 01; 241:119787.FR
- Accurate analysis of vitamin D in human milk is essential for infant nutrition but remains analytically challenging due to low levels and a complex matrix. This study evaluates a practical multi-method strategy using LC-MS/MS, ELISA, and UPLC-PDA for vitamin D analysis in human milk. LC-MS/MS precisely quantified 25(OH)D2 and 25(OH)D3 with assay LOQ of 0.045 ng/mL and 0.100 ng/mL, respectively. E…

- High-Dose Oral Vitamin D for Toxic Effects of the Skin Associated With Chemotherapy and Radiation. [Multicenter Study]JAMA Dermatol. 2026 Sep 01; 162(9):888-893.JD
- CONCLUSIONS: In this case series, hdVD was associated with rapid symptomatic and objective improvement in chemotherapy- and radiation-induced toxic effects of the skin without treatment-related adverse events. These findings support further study of hdVD as a supportive care approach in oncodermatology.

- Comprehensive assessment of fungal peroxygenases for the selective synthesis of 25-hydroxyvitamins D2 and D3. [Journal Article]Biotechnol Biofuels Bioprod. 2026 Jul 10. [Online ahead of print]BB
- CONCLUSIONS: This approach represents a green and sustainable alternative to the chemical synthesis of these hydroxylated compounds that is tedious, occurs with little regioselectivity, and includes several steps and strong oxidizing agents. Moreover, K. phaffii a widely used yeast platform for recombinant protein production ‒ including high-yield secretory expression of industrial enzymes ‒ has been firmly established as a favorable host for recombinant UPO production in recent years.

- Gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel with or without the VDR agonist paricalcitol for metastatic pancreatic cancer: a randomized, multiarm, run-in phase trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- Vitamin D receptor (VDR) agonists promote quiescence of cancer-associated fibroblasts and improve efficacy of chemotherapy in preclinical models of pancreatic cancer. We conducted a run-in phase trial with primary endpoint of safety when the VDR agonist paricalcitol is given with first-line gemcitabine and albumin-bound paclitaxel (GA) in patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer. - Green and sustainable dual-pathway strategies for high-efficiency photoconversion of ergosterol to vitamin D₂ from agaricus bisporus. [Journal Article]Food Chem. 2026 Jul 30; 518:149592.FC
- The conversion of ergosterol to vitamin D₂ (VD2) in Agaricus bisporus is still limited by low efficiency. This study integrates a particle size-regulated powder photoconversion pathway and natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) integrated extraction-photoconversion pathway to achieve a high VD₂ yield. In the powder pathway, combining UV-B irradiation with a median particle size of 130-140 μm maxim…

- UV-Induced Nutritional Transformation of Mushrooms: From Molecular Shifts to Health Outcomes. [Review]Food Res Int. 2026 Mar 31; 228:118235.FR
- This study establishes ultraviolet (UV) irradiation as a promising postharvest strategy for enhancing the nutritional quality of edible mushrooms. However, its efficacy depends strongly on wavelength, dose, tissue geometry, species physiology, and storage conditions. Evidence indicates that UV-driven changes follow distinct mechanistic routes: photochemical conversion of ergosterol to vitamin D2,…
