- Comprehensive Analysis and Surgical Management of Neglected Congenital Talipes Equinovarus Using the Joshi's External Stabilizing System: A 3-Year Longitudinal Case Study and Biomechanical Review. [Case Reports]J Orthop Case Rep. 2026 Jul; 16(7):332-339.JO
- CONCLUSIONS: By the 3-year follow-up, the patient achieved a painless, plantigrade, and functional foot with significantly improved radiological indices. The talocalcaneal angles in both anteroposterior and lateral views normalized, and the patient demonstrated excellent range of motion compared to historical outcomes of open soft-tissue procedures. This case underscores JESS as a versatile, minimally invasive, and effective modality for managing the complex biomechanical demands of neglected clubfoot in low-resource and delayed-presentation settings.

- Beyond resection arthroplasty: joint-preserving surgery for rheumatoid forefoot deformity using combination proximal metatarsal shortening osteotomies. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: CMOS is an effective joint-preserving procedure that restores both function and appearance in RA patients with forefoot deformity, and represents a central technique in a field where Japan continues to lead the world.

- Metatarsal-shortening offset osteotomy as salvage for painful plantar callosities following resection arthroplasty in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: A report of three cases. [Case Reports]Mod Rheumatol Case Rep. 2026 Jun 29; 10(2).MR
- Surgical treatment for forefoot deformities in patients with rheumatoid arthritis has recently shifted toward joint-preserving procedures for all toes. In contrast, resection arthroplasty was previously more commonly performed for the lesser toes. Advances in drug therapy have improved life expectancy, resulting in an increased number of long-term survivors who had previously underwent resection …

- [Correlation between fourth brachymetatarsia and hallux valgus]. [Journal Article]Zhongguo Xiu Fu Chong Jian Wai Ke Za Zhi. 2026 Jun 15; 40(6):930-934.ZX
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with fourth brachymetatarsia have a significantly higher prevalence of hallux valgus, which is positively correlated with the degree of metatarsal shortening but not with age, suggesting an anatomical rather than age-related etiology. The study redefines the clinical nature of fourth brachymetatarsia, promoting a paradigm shift from "cosmetic correction" to "functional reconstruction". It is recommended that this deformity be included as a screening indicator for populations at high risk of hallux valgus.

- Percutaneous long flexor needle tenotomy of toes: a simple, safe, and effective procedure for diabetic foot salvage and intertrigo. Single-centre retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]J Foot Ankle Surg. 2026 Sep-Oct; 65(5):169.e1-169.e8.JF
- CONCLUSIONS: Our cohort demonstrated high healing rates for intertrigo and trophic toe changes, with low failure rates, manageable recurrences and transfer lesions, and minimal complications affirming broad safety and efficacy of the procedure. This procedural efficacy is particularly significant given the high rates of diabetic foot complications, where even minor toe deformities can precipitate severe ulceration and subsequent limb loss.

- Surgical Strategies for Cleft Foot Deformity in a Pediatric Population. [Multicenter Study]J Pediatr Orthop. 2026 Jul 01; 46(6):370-376.JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Operative management of foot ectrodactyly provides favorable radiographic outcomes. Combined bony and soft-tissue strategies were most common, yielding significant radiographic correction with low revision rates. As the largest multicenter series on cleft foot reconstruction, this study highlights considerable management heterogeneity across centers and underscores the need for an indication-based classification system that integrates radiographic severity with patient-centered concerns to guide surgical decision-making and standardize care.

- Prevalence of Common Foot Conditions in Children-A Cross-Sectional Study in Danish Children Aged 6 to 16 Years. [Journal Article]J Am Podiatr Med Assoc. 2026 Feb 21; 116(1).JA
- Background: Caregivers often seek medical assistance when their child experiences podiatric medical ailments. Podiatric medical diseases such as ingrown toenails, callosities, warts, metatarsus varus, and hallux valgus frequently occur in children and adolescents. However, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation are often based on empirical experiences; thus, as a first endeavor, clinical and e…

- Combination of midfoot derotational osteotomy and ankle arthrodesis against neglected clubfoot: a case report. [Case Reports]
- Neglected congenital clubfoot in adults is difficult to manage. Multi-joint arthrodesis is often required but is invasive and associated with complications. We report an adult case treated with ankle arthrodesis and midfoot derotational osteotomy. A 59-year-old man with untreated idiopathic clubfoot since birth presented with severe hindfoot varus and rigid midfoot inversion, leading to wheelchai…

- Indigenous knowledge and treatment practices for post-traumatic joint stiffness and soft tissue contracture using ischial callosities of Papio hamadryas in rural and urban communities of Tigray-Ethiopia. [Journal Article]
- Immobilization of human joints for extended periods, often lasting weeks or longer, can lead to stiffness and contracture. In recent years, various modern treatment modalities have been developed to address joint stiffness and soft tissue contracture. However, in many developing countries, traditional treatments involving plants and animal products remain popular due to their accessibility and af…

- Improved gait function following ankle arthrodesis with corrected talus osteotomy for severe varus deformity secondary to Moyamoya-related paresis in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis: a case report. [Case Reports]Mod Rheumatol Case Rep. 2025 Jul 25; 9(2).MR
- A retrograde ankle nail combined with corrected talar osteotomy is indicated for severe ankle joint deformities owing to rheumatoid arthritis. However, the usefulness of this procedure in improving gait function remains unclear. We treated a 78-year-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who experienced significant gait pain owing to a severe varus deformity of the ankle. She underwent correcte…

- Talar Neck Osteotomy for Treating Neurologic Cavovarus Foot in an Adult: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Talar neck osteotomy (TNO) has been reported as one of the surgical options for cavovarus foot caused by residual congenital clubfoot and neurologic disease in children, or talar neck fracture. However, TNO is rarely reported to correct the neurologic cavovarus foot in adults. We present the case of a 29-year-old male with spina bifida who exhibited a flexible cavovarus deformity of the foot, ass…
