- Surgical management of a penetrating cardiac foreign body causing tamponade in a dog: case report. [Case Reports]Aust Vet J. 2026 Jul 23. [Online ahead of print]AV
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates that penetrating cardiac foreign bodies should be considered in dogs presenting with thoracic penetrating injuries and acute cardiovascular compromise. Echocardiography is invaluable for rapid diagnosis of cardiac tamponade, while computed tomography facilitates surgical planning. Emergency pericardiocentesis can be life-saving, and prompt surgical removal of the foreign body may result in an excellent short-term clinical outcome despite persistent postoperative conduction abnormalities.

- The electrocardiogram manifestations of atrial and ventricular septal defects before and after repair. [Review]Curr Probl Cardiol. 2026 Oct; 51(10):103406.CP
- Atrial septal defects (ASDs) and ventricular septal defects (VSDs) account for the majority of congenital heart disease and may remain clinically relevant from infancy into adulthood. Echocardiography is the gold standard for diagnosis and detailed anatomical assessment of these defects; however, the electrocardiogram (ECG) may provide additional pathophysiological and prognostic insights. This r…

- Machine-Reported Electrocardiographic Right Axis Deviation or Right Ventricular Hypertrophy and Echocardiographic Pulmonary Hypertension Phenotypes and Right-Heart Abnormalities. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Machine-reported ECG RAD/RVH was highly specific but insensitive for echocardiographic pulmonary hypertension phenotypes and right-heart abnormalities. These routine ECG findings may serve as supportive clues to echocardiographic right-heart disease but should not be used to exclude it.

- Electrocardiographic markers of right heart strain and their association with arrhythmias in patients with COPD. [Journal Article]J Electrocardiol. 2026; 97:154377.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: ECG markers of right heart strain, particularly P pulmonale and RVH, are independent predictors of arrhythmias in COPD patients. ECG may serve as a simple, non-invasive tool for early risk stratification and identification of patients who may benefit from closer rhythm monitoring. The relatively small sample size and single-centre design may limit the generalizability of the findings.

- Baseline QRS axis distinguishes para-Hisian PVC from outflow tract PVCs. [Journal Article]Heart Rhythm. 2026 Sep; 23(9):e1991-e1999.HR
- CONCLUSIONS: The axis of idiopathic OT-PVC can be influenced by baseline SR axis deviation. Comparison of SR and PVC axes is essential to distinguish true para-Hisian PVCs from other OT-PVCs.

- Characterisation and prognostic implications of the 12-lead electrocardiogram in children with RASopathy-associated hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that the 12-lead ECG may be a useful screening tool to distinguish RAS-HCM from s-HCM in everyday practice and could have potential implications for prediction of adverse outcomes.

- Prevalence and relation to training of electrocardiographic findings in Caucasian children and adolescents 8- to 18-year-old practicing competitive sport. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Paediatric athletes exhibit less prominent ECG changes than their adult counterparts, requiring specific criteria. The significance of certain ECG patterns should be evaluated considering age, sex, and training level.

- A narrow complex tachycardia with a short HV interval: What is the mechanism? [Case Reports]Pacing Clin Electrophysiol. 2025 Jan; 48(1):63-67.PC
- The case was a 15-year-old male with a history of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia refractory to medical therapy and prior catheter. A repeat electrophysiology study and catheter ablation were applied. Baseline AH and HV intervals were 100 and 55 ms during normal sinus rhythm (NSR), respectively. Programmed atrial stimulation induced a short RP narrow complex tachycardia (HV interval 22 ms…

- Are Pre-Hospitalization ECG Abnormalities Associated With Increased Mortality in COVID-19 Patients? A Quantitative Systematic Literature Review. [Systematic Review]

- ECG changes following balloon pulmonary angioplasty in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension: a retrospective study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: BPA enhances cardiac function and hemodynamics in CTEPH patients, with certain ECG measures such as Lewis criteria and Butler-Leggett score reflecting the severity of hemodynamic impairment. The reversal of QRS axis deviation and the disappearance of the qR pattern in lead V1 may serve as valuable indicators for assessing post-BPA satisfaction in CTEPH patients.

- Differentiating electrocardiographic indications of massive and submassive pulmonary embolism: A cross-sectional study in Southern Iran from 2015 to 2020. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In addition to clinical rules, ECG can serve as an ancillary tool for assessing more invasive testing and earlier aggressive treatments among patients with PE, as it can provide valuable information for the diagnosis and risk stratification of submassive or massive PE.

- Electrocardiographic Abnormalities and Their Association with Outcomes in Randomized Clinical Trials of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. [Journal Article]
- Rationale: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive disease with manifestations including right atrial enlargement, right ventricular dysfunction, dilation, and hypertrophy. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a noninvasive, inexpensive test that is routinely performed in clinical settings. Prior studies have described separate abnormal findings in the electrocardiograms of patients with P…
