- Mass Cytometry Reveals Cell Type-specific Immune Remodeling in Placentas of Women with Chronic Hepatitis B Infection. [Journal Article]J Clin Transl Hepatol. 2026 Sep 28; 14(9):896-911.JC
- CONCLUSIONS: These exploratory findings suggest that HBV may reshape placental immunity through enhanced NK cell activation, broad basophil suppression, and disrupted marker coordination. The sample size was limited (n = 20), so the results need to be validated in larger cohorts. These findings provide new perspectives for understanding the mechanisms of mother-to-child transmission.

- Case Report: Effective use of rituximab in children with steroid-resistant/dependent idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis: description of two cases and literature review. [Case Reports]Front Pediatr. 2026; 14:1944579.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Rituximab appears to be an effective and well-tolerated rescue therapy for steroid-resistant/dependent IPH in children, offering sustained hemorrhage control and facilitating corticosteroid-sparing. Given the limited existing literature on RTX application in IPH management, this report offers a novel therapeutic approach for steroid-resistant/dependent IPH cases.

- GLP-1 receptor agonists in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1800909.FM
- Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a major global chronic liver disease without approved pharmacotherapy. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) show therapeutic promise due to their multi-faceted metabolic benefits, but their efficacy on histological endpoints in MASH requires definitive synthesis.

- Laboratory-based case finding using phosphate and alkaline phosphatase to identify genetic and nutritional rickets in children. [Journal Article]Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1899612.FE
- CONCLUSIONS: Laboratory-based case finding using phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase may help identify pediatric bone metabolism disorders, including forms of rickets. Combined hypophosphatemia and elevated alkaline phosphatase may be useful for guiding etiological investigation. This approach may complement clinical evaluation and facilitate earlier diagnosis. Early identification is clinically relevant because treatments can modify disease course and reduce long-term complications in children with confirmed forms of rickets, when appropriate.

- Clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes in pediatric microscopic colitis: A retrospective 13-year experience. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Gastroenterol Nutr. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: This study adds to the limited pediatric MC literature, including two cases requiring biologic therapy. Fecal calprotectin is presently underutilized but, when tested, was not reliably elevated in the active disease state. Like adults, Budesonide was the most prescribed therapy for pediatric MC and may represent an important first line treatment option due to select patients exhibiting complete symptomatic response.

- CONCLUSIONS: Exploring how water salinity in hot environments impacts human health can help uncover the environmental and social pathways to CKD and cardiovascular diseases facing populations around the world dealing with freshwater salinization. The data generated will provide dose-specific health standards for sodium-chloride in water.

- A Living Multi-Omics PDX Biobank of High-Risk Sarcomas Reveals ecDNA-Driven Oncogene Amplification in Osteosarcoma and Enables Preclinical Precision Oncology. [Journal Article]Adv Sci (Weinh). 2026 Oct 12; :e78200. [Online ahead of print]AS
- Sarcomas are rare, genomically heterogeneous malignancies for which prognosis has remained poor and largely unchanged over recent decades. Patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models are an important tool for cancer research, but their availability and utility remain limited in sarcoma. Here, we establish the SGH sarcoma PDX biobank, a living multi-omics resource comprising 155 xenografts from 132 pat…

- Association of Mitochondrial DNA Copy Number With Atopic Dermatitis in Children. [Journal Article]Clin Transl Allergy. 2026 Oct; 16(10):e70214.CT
- CONCLUSIONS: This study provides novel evidence of an inverse association between mtDNA-CN and atopic dermatitis in children. Further longitudinal and mechanistic studies are warranted to confirm these findings and to evaluate the potential utility of mtDNA-CN as a biomarker for atopic dermatitis.

- CONCLUSIONS: We report a dominant interstitial lung disease phenotype in individuals harbouring novel IFIH1 variants, expanding IFIH1-related disease to the group of type I interferonopathies with pulmonary manifestations like STING-associated vasculopathy with onset in infancy (SAVI) and COPA syndrome.

- Promoting Well-being in Pharmacy Faculty or Staff with Caregiver Roles. [Journal Article]Am J Pharm Educ. 2026 Oct 12; :102103. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- There is limited literature addressing work-life challenges caregivers face while working in pharmacy academia. Identifying these challenges and solutions can help increase their well-being and retention. Caregiving responsibilities vary from short-term support required during an acute illness or following an accident, to long-term care for an individual that can extend over months to years, such…

- Allergen-induced trained immunity in alveolar macrophages predisposes to long-lasting airway hypersensitivity. [Journal Article]Mucosal Immunol. 2026 Oct 12; :100411. [Online ahead of print]MI
- Allergic asthma is characterized by airway hypersensitivity to various allergens and chronic airway inflammation. The mechanisms underlying such a prolonged and broad-responsive airway hypersensitivity remain not fully understood. In this study, we systematically investigated the role of allergen-induced trained immunity in tissue resident alveolar macrophages (AMs) and its impact on long-lasting…

- Pediatric submandibular sialolithiasis with a salivary cutaneous fistula is exceptionally rare. A 15-year-old boy presented with a 4-month history of a persistent right submandibular inflammatory lesion with a central opening and hypergranulation despite previous incision and drainage. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography demonstrated a 10.8 mm distal Wharton duct stone, a 34 mm inflammatory les…
