- Tranexamic acid in primary total knee arthroplasty: a systematic review and meta-analysis of blood loss, transfusion, and deep vein thrombosis. [Systematic Review]BMC Surg. 2026 Aug 03; 26(1).BS
- CONCLUSIONS: The current evidence indicates that TXA in primary TKA significantly reduces blood loss and transfusion requirements with no detected increase in DVT risk in the available randomized evidence. The blood loss analysis showed substantial heterogeneity, whereas the transfusion and DVT analyses were more consistent across studies.

- ObjectiveEffective patient communication is critical in acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) management. This study evaluated and compared the intelligibility and clinical appropriateness of patient-directed explanations for acute DVT generated by vascular surgeons versus a diverse panel of large language models (LLMs), using a balanced, unit-matched design.MethodsIn this observational, cross-section…

- Weight-based dosing for low-molecular-weight heparin administration to achieve optimal venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in trauma patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Journal Article]J Trauma Inj. 2026 Sep; 39(3):211-223.JT
- CONCLUSIONS: Weight-based enoxaparin dosing was more effective than fixed dosing for achieving prophylactic anti-Xa levels and reducing DVT in trauma patients. Although bleeding events were more frequent in some cohorts, pooled analyses showed no significant increase in bleeding risk. Individualized assessment of bleeding risk remains essential.

- Short- to mid-term outcomes of total hip arthroplasty in high hip dislocations: does age matter? [Journal Article]Hip Int. 2026 Sep 29; :11207000261485833. [Online ahead of print]HI
- CONCLUSIONS: Age does not independently predict revision or inferior functional outcomes following THA in HHD. Higher complication rates in older patients are primarily attributed to comorbidities. Appropriate perioperative management ensures comparable long-term outcomes regardless of age, emphasing the importance of addressing comorbidities over chronological age in candidate selection for THA.

- ARC-VAC Study (Analysis of Real-world multicenter experience with large bore Cleaner-VAC thrombectomy system), an analysis of 200 patients. [Journal Article]J Vasc Surg Venous Lymphat Disord. 2026 Sep 28; :102634. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort of 200 patients, the CLEANER Vac system demonstrated high procedural efficacy (88.0% mean clot clearance, 76% achieving ≥90% resolution) and a favorable overall safety profile. The findings support the potential role of this system in enabling rapid, single-session VTE treatment with constrained hemorrhagic liability and morbidity compared to CDT. Prospective, longitudinal studies are warranted to evaluate long-term outcomes and delineate optimal patient stratification.

- Clinical outcomes following a hospital-wide transition from enoxaparin to tinzaparin for venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in neurosurgical patients. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Both enoxaparin and tinzaparin were associated with low VTE rates and comparable postoperative rebleeding rates. Although higher VTE rates with tinzaparin were observed in the medium-to-high risk group, the predominance of PE, increased CTA utilization, and absence of a temporal step change limit a causal interpretation. These findings should therefore be considered hypothesis-generating rather than evidence of superior efficacy of either agent.

- Less inflammation and early functional recovery after total hip arthroplasty performed with robotic arm assistance than with computed tomography-based navigation: a propensity score-matched comparative study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: RA-THA was associated with reduced post-operative CRP, pain, and the incidence of DVT, while also contributing to early functional recovery. Single reaming may have contributed to decreased inflammatory responses and early functional recovery.

- ObjectiveEndovenous laser ablation (EVLA) is standard for superficial venous insufficiency. This retrospective study evaluates the safety profile of "flush" EVLA, assessing whether thermal ablation directly at the saphenofemoral junction (SFJ) increases postoperative thromboembolic complications like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed 501 pat…

- Evaluation of tip fold over in 1,575 cochlear implant electrode arrays. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Electrode array design significantly influences tip fold-over risk. A potentially higher incidence has been observed with perimodiolar electrode arrays compared with flexible straight arrays. The importance of intraoperative diagnostics is underscored in this study. TIM analysis and intraoperative X-ray imaging proved effective in detecting tip fold-over events in real-time, allowing for immediate corrective action and avoiding revision surgeries. This large-scale retrospective study confirms that tip fold-over remains a rare but significant complication in CI surgery, with a higher prevalence in precurved perimodiolar electrode arrays. This study emphasizes the need for ongoing vigilance across all CI systems.

- Peri-Diagnostic D-Dimer-to-Albumin Ratio and Intensive Care Unit Admission in Pulmonary Embolism: A Single-Center Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]
- Background/Objectives: Characterizing factors associated with intensive care unit (ICU) admission among hospitalized patients with pulmonary embolism (PE) is clinically relevant, particularly when established risk-stratification variables are incompletely documented in routine electronic medical records. The D-dimer-to-albumin ratio (DAR) combines a marker of fibrin turnover with serum albumin, a…

- Alterations of Gene Expression and Signaling Pathway Activity in Venous Smooth Muscle Cells After Uremic Serum Exposure. [Journal Article]
- Uremia is the most common pathophysiological symptom in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients, particularly in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) patients. Uremia can lead to several vein-specific vascular diseases, such as renal vein thrombosis (RVT), deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and dialysis access-induced venous stenosis. One of our previous studies demonstrated that uremic serum exposure induced d…

- In-hospital DVT detection, thromboprophylaxis practice, and guideline adherence in patients with traumatic fractures: a single-center retrospective study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Approximately one in 8 hospitalized patients with traumatic fractures had DVT detected during hospitalization. Significant gaps in thromboprophylaxis practice and guideline adherence persist in real-world clinical settings. Improved risk assessment and optimized implementation of guideline-based thromboprophylaxis may help improve real-world VTE prevention practice in patients with traumatic fractures.
