  • Reassessing the clinical value of momelotinib in myelofibrosis: An ESMO-MCBS:H-based appraisal of SIMPLIFY-1 and MOMENTUM. [Review]
Crit Rev Oncol Hematol. 2026 Sep 26; 227:105627. [Online ahead of print]Wever SAL, Hoogendoorn M, … Ammatuna ECR
  • Myelofibrosis (MF) is a chronic myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by splenomegaly, systemic symptoms, and anemia, the latter being strongly associated with poor survival and reduced quality of life. Current Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors improve symptoms and spleen size but often exacerbate anemia, leaving a significant unmet clinical need. Momelotinib, a JAK1/JAK2 and activin A receptor t…
  • Progesterone receptor modulators for endometriosis. [Systematic Review]
Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2026 Sep 16; 9:CD009881.Grammatis AL, Gibbons T, … Becker CMCD
  • CONCLUSIONS: Mifepristone may improve dysmenorrhoea in women with endometriosis, but it might increase the prevalence of adverse events, such as hot flushes. The evidence is very uncertain regarding its effect on dyspareunia. Gestrinone may be less effective than leuprorelin in treating dysmenorrhoea, but it may improve dyspareunia. It may be associated with lower rates of hot flushes and similar rates of nausea. We are uncertain about the effect of gestrinone compared to danazol. We found insufficient evidence to permit firm conclusions about the safety and effectiveness of other progesterone receptor modulators.
  • Revisiting the role of danazol in the contemporary management of endometriosis-related pain: a systematic review. [Review]
    Expert Opin Pharmacother. 2026 Aug 29; :1-13. [Online ahead of print]Giani M, Tucci C, … Petraglia FEO
  • CONCLUSIONS: Danazol demonstrates consistent efficacy in reducing endometriosis-associated pain. Although high-dose regimens are limited by adverse effects, limited evidence suggests that lower-dose regimens may offer a more favorable balance between efficacy and tolerability. These findings support a reappraisal of danazol as a therapeutic option for carefully selected patients within contemporary management strategies.
  • A low-cost electrochemical screening platform for danazol in anti-doping analysis. [Journal Article]
    Anal Methods. 2026 Aug 27; 18(33):7058-7072.Terán A, Márquez P, … Pizarro JAM
  • Doping in sports, particularly using danazol (DZ), a steroid prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), can lead to serious health risks due to its unregulated use. Current detection methods are costly and performed in specialized laboratories. In this work, we developed a low-cost electrochemical screening platform based on the direct electrochemical reduction of graphene oxide (GO) onto…
  • Mathematical modelling of premature haematopoietic ageing in dyskeratosis congenita. [Journal Article]
Sci Rep. 2026 Apr 24; 16(1).Portillo AM, García-Velasco JA, Varela ESR
  • Idiopathic dyskeratosis congenita (DC) is a disorder characterized by mucocutaneous alterations, bone-marrow failure, immune deficiency, liver cirrhosis, and other morbidities, due to alterations in telomere maintenance, which, in most cases, lead to short telomeres and poor tissue regeneration and function. The main cause of mortality is bone-marrow failure. A non-local diffusion-advection model…
  • Acute Pancreatitis as a Therapeutic Complication in Case of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria. [Case Reports]
Ann Afr Med. 2026 Aug 01; 25(Suppl 1):S156-S161.Reddy MSR, Dhere IA, … Reddy KSAAA
  • Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare acquired hematopoietic disorder requiring careful therapeutic management. In resource-limited settings, traditional treatments may carry significant risks. A 32-year-old female with PNH developed acute pancreatitis 10 months after initiation of danazol and deflazacort therapy. Initial presentation included typical hemoglobinuria, pancytopenia, a…
