- Role of self-management among virally suppressed and unsuppressed adolescents living with HIV in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. [Journal Article]AIDS Care. 2026 Oct 03; :1-10. [Online ahead of print]AC
- Globally, significant progress toward ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic includes advances in HIV treatment, converting a fatal infection to a chronic disease. Adolescents living with HIV (AWHIV) continue to underachievein HIV viral suppression (VS) needed to remain healthy. This cross-sectional study aimed to examine the role of self-management and related factors in VS among AWHIV aged 15-19 years in…

- Differential Contributions of Internalized Racism Facets on Psychological Distress. [Journal Article]J Cogn Psychother. 2026 Oct 03. [Online ahead of print]JC
- This study examined the relative contributions of various facets of internalized racism (IR) to anxious arousal and depressive symptoms. A racially diverse sample of 205 U.S.-based racial/ethnic minority adults (M age = 27.96, 60% female, 55.6% Black/African American, 18.5% Asian, 14.6% multiracial, and 11.3% other) completed validated measures of IR, anxiety, and depression. Hierarchical regress…

- Investigating the Role of Stress in Misophonia: Stress as a Clinical Correlate and Its Influence on Treatment Outcomes. [Journal Article]J Cogn Psychother. 2026 Oct 03. [Online ahead of print]JC
- Misophonia is a sound intolerance disorder characterized by strong emotional and physiological reactions to specific everyday sounds. Emerging research suggests that stress may play an important role in misophonia, yet little work has examined whether stress uniquely contributes to misophonia severity or influences treatment response. The present study examined the role of stress in misophonia us…

- Sex differences in self-reported executive function, anxiety and depression symptoms among young adults in substance use disorder treatment. [Journal Article]J Subst Use Addict Treat. 2026 Oct 03; :210134. [Online ahead of print]JS
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings emphasize the high psychiatric comorbidity among SUD patients, with females showing elevated executive dysfunction alongside anxiety symptoms. Females in SUD treatment may represent a more clinically severe subgroup. Routine assessment of executive functioning is warranted, and future studies should clarify these associations and their relevance for targeted interventions.

- Trajectory of maternal perinatal negative psychological states and its association with early offspring neurodevelopment: A longitudinal cohort study. [Journal Article]J Affect Disord. 2026 Oct 03; :122584. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: Maternal perinatal negative psychological states were significant risk factors for adverse early infant neurodevelopment. These findings highlight the importance of screening for and addressing co-occurring maternal negative psychological states during perinatal period.

- PDE2A is involved in negative emotional behaviors via the cAMP-PKA signaling pathway in the SPS&S model. [Journal Article]J Affect Disord. 2026 Oct 03; :122585. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that amygdala PDE2A-cAMP-PKA signaling is associated with negative emotional behaviors in the SPS&S model. PDE2A inhibition may ameliorate behavioral deficits through PKA-related signaling. However, the peripheral blood transcriptomic data, lack of direct PDE2A activity and cAMP/cGMP measurements, and limited biochemical validation constrain mechanistic interpretation. Further studies using brain-derived datasets and comprehensive biochemical approaches are warranted.

- Chronic cohabitation with CD1 male mice induces anxiety-like behaviors, reduced spontaneous alternation, dysregulated HPA axis, and disrupted sleep architecture in C57BL/6J female mice. [Journal Article]Brain Res. 2026 Oct 03; :150567. [Online ahead of print]BR
- In contrast to the well-documented phenomena of inter-male aggression and competition in nature, the long-term consequences for females involuntarily exposed to persistent male-initiated social threat remain inadequately understood. In the present study, we demonstrate that C57BL/6J female mice co-housed with CD1 male mice for 14 days developed anxiety-like behaviors and cognitive deficits, witho…

- TMS-Evoked Cortical Reactivity Signatures as a Multidimensional Biomarker of Depression: A TMS-EEG Meta-Analysis from Diagnosis to Prognosis. [Journal Article]Biol Psychiatry. 2026 Oct 03. [Online ahead of print]BP
- CONCLUSIONS: TMS-EEG cortical reactivity signatures, particularly negative-polarity components and their N100 subcomponent, demonstrated convergent effects across disease characterization, treatment monitoring, and outcome prediction, supporting their candidacy as multidimensional neurophysiological biomarkers for MDD with potential clinical utility in biomarker-guided precision psychiatry.

- Cognitive state dependent enhancement of cognitive control with transcranial magnetic stimulation. [Journal Article]Brain Stimul. 2026 Oct 03; :103227. [Online ahead of print]BS
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrate that TMS' effects on cognitive control are state-dependent, in which endogenous engagement of PFC-anchored networks can shape the magnitude and functional relevance of TMS-evoked activity and the associated modification of circuit function. Constraining cognitive states during TMS may therefore offer a framework to enhance the reliability of TMS' effects.

- Distribution of ethanol between blood and alternative biological specimens in life and after death. Part I: Importance of body water. [Review]Forensic Sci Rev. 2026 Jul; 38(2):129-149.FS
- Measuring the concentration of ethanol in blood and other biological specimens provides important forensic information whenever alcohol-related crimes and alcohol-related deaths are investigated. A dose-response relationship holds between a person's blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) and the degree of impairment of the central nervous system (CNS): When their BAC reaches 0.3-0.5 g/L, most people f…
- Investigating the role of norepinephrine in regulating depression by a novel organic near-infrared fluorescent probe. [Journal Article]Biosens Bioelectron. 2026 Sep 30; 315:119293. [Online ahead of print]BB
- Depression is closely associated with alterations in concentration levels and release dynamics of a specific neurotransmitter, such as norepinephrine (NE), in the brain. Visualizing these dynamic changes is essential for understanding depression-associated neurotransmitter dysregulation. Herein, we developed a novel near-infrared fluorescent probe DIPCl-NE by employing a near-infrared fluorophore…
