- A bibliometric analysis of trace elements and diabetic kidney disease: scientific hotspots and research evolution. [Review]Ren Fail. 2026 Dec; 48(1):2736897.RF
- The role of trace elements, including zinc, selenium, iron, copper, cadmium, lead, and other essential or toxic elements, in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) has become increasingly recognized because of their effects on oxidative stress, metabolic regulation, and renal dysfunction. However, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of research trends and molecular insights into these interactions is st…

- Astragaloside IV (AS-IV) has demonstrated efficacy in ameliorating proteinuria and attenuating renal tubular damage in preclinical diabetic nephropathy (DN) models. Despite these multi-target benefits, the molecular mechanisms underlying its podocyte-protective effects remain largely uncharacterized, particularly its potential epigenetic regulatory capacity within glomerular cells. This study aim…

- Serum melatonin levels and their relationship with inflammation and oxidative stress in patients with diabetic nephropathy: a cross-sectional case-control study. [Journal Article]BMC Endocr Disord. 2026 Oct 07; 26(1).BE
- CONCLUSIONS: Serum melatonin and total antioxidant capacity are concurrently reduced in T2DM, reflecting a coupled deficit of antioxidant defence. However, melatonin and TAS/TOS did not independently distinguish DN from non-DN diabetic patients; conventional renal-function markers and CRP were the dominant correlates of nephropathy. Melatonin appears to mark the global oxidative-metabolic burden of T2DM rather than nephropathy specifically.

- Machine Learning-Based Prediction of Albuminuria in Diabetic Patients Using Retinal Microvascular Metrics on Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography. [Journal Article]Transl Vis Sci Technol. 2026 Oct 05; 15(10):9.TV
- CONCLUSIONS: OCTA parameters are significantly associated with albuminuria in diabetes, and their inclusion in predictive models improves albuminuria identification, supporting OCTA as a noninvasive complementary tool for early detection of DN.

- Orally Administered Acarbose-Guar gum Solid Dispersion mitigates diabetes-induced kidney damage via modulating inflammatory response and oxidative stress in diabetic rats. [Journal Article]J Drug Target. 2026 Oct 08; :1-36. [Online ahead of print]JD
- Diabetes mellitus can cause progressive renal injury characterized by oxidative stress, inflammation, and impaired renal function. This study investigated the kidney- and cell-protective potential of acarbose-guar gum solid dispersion (AGSD-3) using in vitro and in vivo diabetic models. In BHK-21 cells, AGSD-3 showed improved biocompatibility, with higher cell viability (65.54 ± 0.41%) than acarb…

- The Brazilian registry of kidney biopsies: results from the 2022 national prospective registry. [Journal Article]J Bras Nefrol. 2026; 48(4):e20260096.JB
- CONCLUSIONS: The 2022 BRKB data provide a contemporary overview of biopsy-proven kidney diseases in Brazil and highlight the predominance of glomerular disorders. Among diabetic patients undergoing biopsy, only half showed histological evidence of diabetic nephropathy, emphasizing the value of kidney biopsy in selected cases.

- Pathophysiology of aldosterone dysregulation in difficult-to-control hypertension. [Review]Am J Hypertens. 2026 Oct 01; 39(Supplement_1):S11-S17.AJ
- Aldosterone, a key component of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), plays a central role in sodium balance, vascular tone, blood pressure control, and cardiovascular remodeling. Dysregulation of aldosterone mechanism, including excessive production, deficiency, and inappropriate receptor activation, represents a significant contributor to cardiovascular and renal disease which is oft…

- CONCLUSIONS: In db/db mice, the cohort receiving A. manihot (L.)-derived HKC had lower urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) and different intestinal microbiota and plasma metabolite profiles than the historical DN cohort, highlighting its therapeutic potential for DN.

- Fucoidan Modulates USP22/HIF-1α Against Ferroptosis in Diabetic Nephropathy. [Journal Article]Am J Chin Med. 2026 Oct 08; :1-22. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Ubiquitin-specific protease 22 (USP22), which was found to serve as a specific deubiquitinase of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), plays an important role in diabetic nephropathy (DN) pathological mechanisms, but currently available therapies remain insufficient to fully arrest its progression. Fucoidan (FO), a marine-derived fucose-rich sulfated polysaccharide, has been reported to treat acu…

- Association of environmental xylene exposure with diabetic kidney disease: a cross-sectional analysis and multi-omics evaluation of immune microenvironment mechanisms. [Journal Article]Ren Fail. 2026 Dec; 48(1):2738974.RF
- Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) progression is driven by residual inflammation, potentially exacerbated by volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, the impact of xylene exposure on the DKD immune microenvironment remains unclear. We evaluated the association between urinary VOC metabolites and DKD prevalence using NHANES data. Network toxicology and bulk transcriptomics (GSE142025) were integrat…

- Diagnosis and Management of Adult Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus: Systematic Reviews of Biomarkers, Insulin Regimens and Insulin Delivery Devices Highlighting Evidence Gaps in Emergency and Humanitarian Settings. [Journal Article]Diabetes Obes Metab. 2026 Oct 06. [Online ahead of print]DO
- CONCLUSIONS: Evidence for T1D care in emergency and humanitarian settings remains very limited. Evidence for biomarker use for diagnoses is constrained by very low-certainty evidence and infrastructure barriers. Multiple daily insulin regimens may confer glycaemic benefits, whereas pens and syringes yield similar outcomes despite patients' preference for pens. Evidence gaps underscore the need for pragmatic, context-sensitive guidance balancing clinical and logistical considerations.

- Integrated bioinformatics analysis uncovers TNFSF10 as a key panoptosis-related gene in diabetic tubular injury. [Journal Article]
- Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a major cause of chronic kidney diseases. Panoptosis has emerged as a key contributor to renal injury. However, the specific panoptosis-related genes (PRGs) that drive diabetic tubular injury remain unknown. TNFSF10, a known regulator of apoptosis and inflammation, has been linked to podocyte injury in DKD, but its role in diabetic tubular injury remains unknown. …
