  • Orbital Fracture Repair Materials: Research Hotspots, Clinical Applications, and Emerging Technologies. [Journal Article]
J Craniofac Surg. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]Huang X, Zhang L, Deng YJC
  • Orbital fractures, particularly of the medial and inferior walls, often require precise reconstruction to restore orbital volume and prevent enophthalmos, diplopia, and facial deformity. The selection of repair material, ranging from titanium meshes and porous polyethylene to resorbable polymers and tissue-engineered scaffolds, is therefore central to surgical success, yet a clinically oriented s…
  • Petrous Apex Mucocele: A Case Report and Literature Review. [Review]
    Ear Nose Throat J. 2026 Oct 09; :1455613261486891. [Online ahead of print]Trifunoski D, Urbančič J, … Vozel DEN
  • BackgroundA petrous apex mucocele is a rare benign cystic lesion that can present with symptoms due to pressure on surrounding structures, including the internal carotid artery, Meckel's cave and the fifth and sixth cranial nerves, as well as the cavernous sinus region and inner ear.MethodsA 36-year-old male presented with 8 months of diplopia when looking to the right, a right-sided temporoparie…
  • Infected Frontal Sinus Mucocele Mimicking a Cutaneous Abscess. [Case Reports]
Cureus. 2026 Sep; 18(9):e115941.Ferretti LG, Zender H, Said CC
  • Frontal sinus mucoceles are benign expansile lesions that may progressively erode the surrounding bone and extend toward the orbit or intracranial compartment. When expansion occurs anteriorly, however, they may present as an apparently superficial forehead swelling and be mistaken for a cutaneous abscess. A 77-year-old woman with chronic sinusitis developed recurrent left paramedian frontal swel…
  • Microsurgical resection of a pure third ventricular craniopharyngioma through an interhemispheric transcallosal transforaminal approach. [Case Reports]
    Surg Neurol Int. 2026; 17:544.Sulaimanov U, Erginoglu U, … Baskaya MKSN
  • CONCLUSIONS: Although there are reports of purely intraventricular craniopharyngiomas resected through the endonasal route, traditional transcranial approaches remain the standard for tumors located entirely within the third ventricle. Although this case was treated before routine molecular testing and targeted therapy became standard, modern management now requires a multidisciplinary strategy integrating microsurgery, radiotherapy, and targeted therapy with BRAF (B-Raf proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase) and MEK (mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase) inhibitors when appropriate.
