- Multimodality imaging diagnosis of congenital absence of the right-sided pericardium presenting with pseudo-ischemic chest pain: A radiology-focused case report. [Case Reports]
- Congenital absence of the pericardium (CAP) is a rare thoracic anomaly that is frequently asymptomatic but may mimic ischemic heart disease clinically and on initial evaluation. Its diagnosis relies heavily on imaging, yet characteristic radiologic findings are often overlooked. We present the case of a young adult male whose condition was accurately identified and successfully managed through cl…

- Surgical management of a penetrating cardiac foreign body causing tamponade in a dog: case report. [Case Reports]Aust Vet J. 2026 Jul 23. [Online ahead of print]AV
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates that penetrating cardiac foreign bodies should be considered in dogs presenting with thoracic penetrating injuries and acute cardiovascular compromise. Echocardiography is invaluable for rapid diagnosis of cardiac tamponade, while computed tomography facilitates surgical planning. Emergency pericardiocentesis can be life-saving, and prompt surgical removal of the foreign body may result in an excellent short-term clinical outcome despite persistent postoperative conduction abnormalities.

- Directional Radial Force Alignment Predicts Pacemaker Implantation After Balloon-Expandable Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation: A Computed Tomography-Based Biomechanical Study. [Journal Article]Am J Cardiol. 2026 Sep 15; 275:27-30.AJ
- Conduction disturbances requiring permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation remain a frequent complication of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). This study aimed to evaluate the "Vectorial Angle"-a novel computed tomography (CT)-derived biomechanical parameter-alongside traditional anatomical and electrocardiographic predictors of PPM following balloon-expandable TAVI. This retrospectiv…

- The electrocardiogram manifestations of atrial and ventricular septal defects before and after repair. [Review]Curr Probl Cardiol. 2026 Oct; 51(10):103406.CP
- Atrial septal defects (ASDs) and ventricular septal defects (VSDs) account for the majority of congenital heart disease and may remain clinically relevant from infancy into adulthood. Echocardiography is the gold standard for diagnosis and detailed anatomical assessment of these defects; however, the electrocardiogram (ECG) may provide additional pathophysiological and prognostic insights. This r…

- Prevalence of cardiac arrhythmias in poorly performing horses. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Because cardiac arrhythmia may lead to racehorse exercise intolerance and suboptimal performance, early diagnosis is important to allow veterinarians to develop long-term treatment strategies. Furthermore, electrocardiography, along with cardiac biomarker cardiac troponin, is essential.

- Diagnostic Value of the Terminal D1S + D3R Pattern for Detecting Right Ventricular Dilatation in Patients with Atrial Septal Defect. [Journal Article]J Cardiovasc Dev Dis. 2026 Jun 03; 13(6).JC
- CONCLUSIONS: In adults with secundum ASD, a positive terminal D1S + D3R ECG pattern is independently associated with RV dilatation and may serve as a practical adjunctive screening marker. However, it should not replace echocardiographic assessment.

- Urgent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a patient with situs inversus totalis: a case report and literature review. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Jun; 138(6):2303-2307.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Acute cholecystitis in patients with SIT may present with misleading left-sided symptoms. Early recognition through imaging and adaptation to mirror-image anatomy allow for safe and effective urgent laparoscopic management. Awareness of this rare condition is essential to avoid diagnostic delays and operative complications.

- Right Ventricular Compression From Pectus Excavatum: A Reversible Cause of Ventricular Dysfunction. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e106639.C
- Pectus excavatum can rarely result in clinically significant right ventricular (RV) compression, leading to impaired diastolic filling, reduced stroke volume, and secondary biventricular dysfunction involving both the right and left ventricles. We report a 19-year-old male who presented with progressive exertional dyspnea and was found to have severe pectus excavatum with a Haller index of 5.8 on…

- Baseline QRS axis distinguishes para-Hisian PVC from outflow tract PVCs. [Journal Article]Heart Rhythm. 2026 Sep; 23(9):e1991-e1999.HR
- CONCLUSIONS: The axis of idiopathic OT-PVC can be influenced by baseline SR axis deviation. Comparison of SR and PVC axes is essential to distinguish true para-Hisian PVCs from other OT-PVCs.

- Masquerading bundle branch block: An electrocardiographic harbinger of advanced conduction system disease. [Case Reports]J Electrocardiol. 2026 Jul-Aug; 97:154270.JE
- CONCLUSIONS: Masquerading bundle branch block is an important but underrecognized electrocardiographic marker of advanced conduction system disease. Early identification may facilitate timely monitoring and intervention to prevent adverse outcomes related to conduction system failure.

- Cardiac amyloidosis presenting as refractory heart failure: Role of GLS in diagnosis and on follow up. [Case Reports]Glob Cardiol Sci Pract. 2026 Feb 28; 2026(1):e202607.GC
- Background: Cardiac amyloidosis represents a challenging diagnosis in patients with multiple myeloma, often presenting as refractory heart failure with subtle early manifestations that can delay appropriate treatment. Case: We report a 55-year-old male with a three-year history of multiple myeloma who presented with progressive dyspnea and bilateral lower limb edema. Despite being normotensive an…

- Severe Congenital Pulmonary Valve Stenosis Diagnosed in Adulthood: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Feb; 18(2):e103630.C
- Pulmonary valve stenosis is a congenital heart disease that is usually diagnosed during childhood, while presentation in adulthood is uncommon and may lead to delayed diagnosis. We report the case of a 21-year-old patient with no significant medical history who presented with a six-month history of exertional dyspnea and constrictive chest pain. Electrocardiography showed right axis deviation wit…

- Novel electrocardiographic criteria to determine the electrical position of the heart in baseline rhythm and in Post-TAVR left bundle branch block. [Review]Curr Probl Cardiol. 2026 Apr; 51(4):103271.CP
- CONCLUSIONS: Novel ECG criteria enable reliable classification of cardiac electrical position in both baseline and post-TAVR LBBB. Leftward axis deviation with LBBB often reflects intrinsic EPH rather than new pathology, enhancing interpretation and clinical decision-making.

- Frontal T-wave axis deviation and risk of sudden cardiac death in coronary syndromes. [Journal Article]Heart. 2026 May 12; 112(11):598-605.H
- CONCLUSIONS: Severity of frontal TA deviation is a robust, graded marker of SCD risk in angiography patients, strongest in elective and postacute settings; QRSTA is supportive but weaker. These automated, low-cost metrics could augment SCD risk stratification beyond LVEF, warranting external validation and clinical utility testing.
