- Survey of Local and Systemic Corticosteroids Use in Adults with Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps in Chile. [Journal Article]J Inflamm Res. 2026; 19:613424.JI
- CONCLUSIONS: The treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps combines a medical and surgical approach. Topical corticosteroids are essential according to multiple international guidelines. The use of systemic corticosteroids should be rational, assessing risks and benefits. Given the heterogeneity of the results obtained in this study regarding steroid prescription, the development of clinical guidelines to standardize the rational use of topical and systemic corticosteroids in Chile should be considered.

- Multi-omics and machine learning identify ALOX5 as a ferroptosis-associated driver of epithelial barrier dysfunction in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. [Journal Article]
- Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the upper airway, and its underlying pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. In this study, endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS)-related gene sets were employed as the analytical starting point to systematically screen and identify core genes closely associated with CRSwNP. Through the integration of…

- BackgroundEosinophilic otitis media (EOM) is a refractory type 2 inflammatory disease of the middle ear, frequently associated with asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Conventional otologic treatments often provide incomplete or transient benefit. Because EOM and CRSwNP may share a type 2 inflammatory pathway involving the nasal, Eustachian tube, and middle-ear compartme…

- Acute-onset dysphagia: an uncommon presentation of myasthenia crisis. [Case Reports]BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Sep 04; 19(9).BC
- Myasthenia crisis is a lethal complication of myasthenia gravis, and about 20% of patients with myasthenia gravis may present for the first time in crisis. We present a case in which underlying, undiagnosed myasthenia gravis presented in crisis as acute-onset dysphagia. We would like to discuss the role of acute exacerbation of chronic rhinosinusitis and the administration of high-dose oral corti…

- A Narrative Review of Recent Developments in Aspirin Therapy After Desensitization in NSAIDs-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease. [Review]
- NSAID-exacerbated respiratory disease (N-ERD) is characterized by asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), and intolerance to NSAIDs (including aspirin). In N-ERD, CRSwNP often remains refractory to standard medical and surgical treatment, necessitating escalation. Aspirin therapy after desensitization (ATAD) is an established option for CRSwNP in N-ERD, but its use is lim…

- Severe Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps: From IL-5-Driven Pathogenetic Mechanisms to Clinical Management in the Italian Clinical Setting. [Review]
- Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a highly debilitating airway disease primarily characterized by type 2 inflammation and eosinophilic infiltration. Among the key cytokines involved, Interleukin-5 (IL-5) plays a relevant role in eosinophil biology and contributes, together with other mediators of type 2 inflammation, to epithelial barrier dysfunction, immune dysregulation, mucu…

- PurposeTo identify independent risk factors for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and develop a clinical risk scoring system for its prediction.MethodsThis retrospective study included 420 patients categorized into CRSwNP and CRSsNP groups. Demographic, clinical (asthma), and hematologic parameters-including blood eosinophil count (BEC) and inflammatory markers-were analyzed. Subg…

- Tezepelumab in Chinese Patients With Severe Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps: A Prespecified Subgroup Analysis of the Phase 3 WAYPOINT Trial. [Journal Article]Int Forum Allergy Rhinol. 2026 Jul 29. [Online ahead of print]IF
- CONCLUSIONS: Consistent with the overall population, tezepelumab reduced nasal-polyp size and improved loss-of-smell and other sinonasal symptoms in Chinese patients with CRSwNP, with a favorable safety profile. No surgery or systemic glucocorticoids were required. These benefits were observed despite relatively lower baseline eosinophil counts in these patients. Further investigation is warranted to assess the generalizability to the broader Chinese population with CRSwNP.
