  • The gender paradox of infertility: a comparative study of marital adjustment and sexual dysfunction in Bangladesh. [Journal Article]
Sex Med. 2026 Aug; 14(4):qfag040.Ahsan MS, Mubassara L, … Sansone ASM
  • CONCLUSIONS: A substantial "gender paradox" exists in infertility-related sexual health in Bangladesh, where men exhibit a significantly higher prevalence of sexual dysfunction than women. These findings highlight the necessity of integrating sexual medicine and psychological counseling into routine infertility management to improve both reproductive outcomes and marital quality. Strengths include the use of validated psychometric instruments and a relatively large, clinic-based sample. Limitations include cross-sectional design and reliance on self-report measures, which may limit generalizability and causal interpretation.
  • Sexual dysfunction in patients with Type 2 diabetes: A South Asian perspective. [Review]
Best Pract Res Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2026 Jul; 40(4):102108.Selim SBP
  • Sexual dysfunction (SD) is a prevalent but frequently overlooked complication of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, with a particularly high burden in South Asia, a region experiencing a rapid rise in diabetes prevalence. Despite its significant effects on quality of life, interpersonal relationships, and psychological well-being, SD is often insufficiently addressed in routine clinical care. This gap is …
  • Adult Male Hypogonadism: A Review. [Review]
JAMA. 2026 Jun 23; 335(24):2146-2159.Anawalt BD, O'Connor KM, Grossmann MJAMA
  • CONCLUSIONS: Primary hypogonadism affects less than 1% of men, whereas secondary hypogonadism due to obesity (body mass index ≥30) occurs in 2% to 8%. First-line treatment for obesity-induced hypogonadism is weight loss. Testosterone therapy should be initiated for men with permanent hypogonadism or those who are unable to discontinue medications that cause hypogonadism.

  • Diabetes is an increasingly prevalent problem that has been associated very strongly with sexual problems in both men and women. • Iron overload disorders in adults: a comprehensive review of gonadal function, reproductive, and sexual health. [Journal Article]
Hum Reprod Update. 2026 May 08. [Online ahead of print]Carlomagno F, Tenuta M, … Krausz CHR
  • CONCLUSIONS: This review underscores the critical need for standardized gonadal screening to facilitate personalized reproductive care and early intervention in subjects with IO disorders. We propose an integrated clinical framework, combining early endocrine monitoring, fertility preservation protocols, and reproductive counselling. Future multidisciplinary research should prioritize prospective studies with clearly defined reproductive endpoints and explore optimized chelation strategies to safeguard reproductive potential. Addressing these gaps will fundamentally reshape clinical management, bridging haematology, endocrinology, and reproductive medicine.
  • Mechanisms of dyslipidemia-induced erectile dysfunction: a narrative review. [Review]
    Front Endocrinol (Lausanne). 2026; 17:1780243.Luo D, Sun D, … Zhang JFE
  • CONCLUSIONS: Dyslipidemia contributes to ED through multiple interconnected pathways, including vascular dysfunction, neural impairment, oxidative stress, inflammation, and endocrine alterations. These mechanisms may increase susceptibility to ED in affected patients. However, direct evidence remains limited, and confounding by coexisting metabolic, cardiovascular and neural conditions complicates interpretation. Further research is needed to clarify the independent effects of dyslipidemia and to identify potential therapeutic strategies.
