  • Budget impact analysis for albuterol-budesonide fixed-dose combination in the as needed treatment of adult patients with asthma in Kuwait. [Journal Article]
    J Med Econ. 2026 Dec; 29(1):2255-2263.Hamdy Elsisi G, Al-Bader M, … Al-Ahmad MJM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that replacing albuterol or ICS-SABA with the alb/bud-FDC rescue inhaler across different asthma severity levels improves clinical outcomes while reducing overall healthcare costs through lower expenditures associated with severe asthma exacerbations and maintenance oral corticosteroid (OCS) use. This evaluation is relevant to healthcare decision makers for guiding that alb/bud-FDC is budget-saving for eligible patients, while reducing the burden to patients and improving their control and symptoms. These savings should be interpreted within the context of the overall asthma management budget.
  • Rhabdomyolysis in a 10-month-old child: A case report and literature review. [Case Reports]
    Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Aug 21; 105(34):e50012.Shao H, Wang NM
  • CONCLUSIONS: The recognition of RM in children should be improved. Clinicians should be vigilant when encountering atypical symptoms in conjunction with substantially elevated serum CK. Early and accurate diagnosis, along with active fluid resuscitation, can effectively reduce the incidence of ARF and improve prognosis.
  • Lymphocytic Microscopic Colitis Associated with Paroxetine: A Psychiatric Nursing Case Report. [Journal Article]
J Am Psychiatr Nurses Assoc. 2026 Aug 21; :10783903261477364. [Online ahead of print]Milewski MJA
  • CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates the importance of psychiatric nursing vigilance for persistent gastrointestinal symptoms in patients receiving serotonergic antidepressants. Recognition of possible medication-associated MC may support timely referral, interdisciplinary collaboration, and individualized psychopharmacologic decision-making.
  • Profiles and Disease Burden of Patients with COPD Initiating Triple Therapy in China. [Journal Article]
    Int J Chron Obstruct Pulmon Dis. 2026; 21:575677.Li X, Cao J, … Ding JIJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: These results provide an overview of the profiles of patients with COPD in China. The high rates of COPD-related healthcare resource utilization and costs demonstrate the considerable burden of COPD in China, whilst the PDC results indicate medication adherence needs to be improved. These findings could help reduce the burden of COPD in China by supporting the planning and adjustment of patients' treatment strategies.
  • Comparative effectiveness of budesonide EC and telitacicept in proteinuria and eGFR trajectories in IgA nephropathy: a retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
    Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1821774.Zuo X, Wang Y, … Zhao CFI
  • CONCLUSIONS: The relative antiproteinuric effect of telitacicept versus budesonide EC may be modified by baseline proteinuria, with a possible trend toward greater benefit in patients with mild-to-moderate levels. In contrast, although budesonide EC was associated with higher mean eGFR during follow-up in the primary analysis, this difference attenuated after PSM and likely reflects baseline imbalance rather than a true differential effect on renal trajectory. These observations are limited by the retrospective design and residual confounding, and require confirmation in larger prospective studies.
  • Enteric Budesonide Treatment in IgA Nephropathy. [Journal Article]
Kidney Int Rep. 2026 May; 11(5):106412.Gulati S, Chaudhary AR, … Rovin BKI
  • CONCLUSIONS: In this prospective multicenter, single arm study of EC-budesonide in IgAN, the safety, proteinuria reduction, and eGFR stabilization were encouraging. The drug has promising efficacy in regions where other approved drugs are unavailable.
  • Efficacy of Nebulized Pentoxifylline in a Mouse Model of Emphysema Induced by Cigarette Smoke and Aerosolized Lipopolysaccharide. [Journal Article]
    Int J Chron Obstruct Pulmon Dis. 2026; 21:554927.Hu Z, Yu Y, … Zhang JIJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Nebulized pentoxifylline and theophylline can alleviate lung inflammation induced by CS and LPS exposure, as evidenced by the decreased expression of TNF-α, KC/CXCL1, IL-1β, and MMP-12, and the restoration of HDAC2 level (which was reduced by CS+LPS exposure). In contrast, budesonide alone was capable of reducing inflammation but failed to exert an impact on HDAC2 level. A numerical trend indicated that pentoxifylline at a concentration of 22.0 mg/mL might exhibit greater efficacy; however, no statistically significant differences were observed among the various PTX doses tested. Further research is required to identify the optimal concentration of pentoxifylline for this application.
