- Lyell´s syndrome associated with the use of topical agents: case report. [Case Reports]Rev Peru Med Exp Salud Publica. 2026 Aug 04; 43(3):402-407.RP
- Lyell's syndrome (LS) is a severe drug-induced cutaneous adverse reaction, associated with high morbidity and mortality. We present the case of a 41-year-old male who, after the use of topical medications, developed fever, maculopapular lesions, ocular and mucosal involvement, with affectation of more than 30% of the body surface area. Cutaneous biopsy ruled out other pathologies. Management incl…

- Interim Update on Reactive Infectious Mucocutaneous Eruption (RIME). [Journal Article]Pediatr Dermatol. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]PD
- Reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption (RIME), a term describing blistering skin and mucosal lesions, is a term coined by a group of Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) researchers and first published in 2021. Since that time, the literature has grown with reports of diverse infectious triggers, management strategies, and complications. This expert opinion PeDRA perspective, devel…

- Histopathological Patterns in Bullous Dermatitis Artefacta: A Retrospective Case Series. [Journal Article]Am J Dermatopathol. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Dermatologists are uniquely positioned to diagnose and manage DA. Nevertheless, when clinical diagnosis is inconclusive, recognition of these histopathological patterns may provide valuable diagnostic clues for dermatopathologists evaluating biopsies from patients with suspected DA.

- Lamotrigine-associated SJS/TEN overlap during valproate co-therapy managed with rhTNFR-Fc and therapeutic plasma exchange: A case report. [Case Reports]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Oct 09; 105(41):e51050.M
- CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates the evolution from a severe drug eruption to SJS/TEN overlap, reinforces the importance of reduced lamotrigine starting doses and slow titration during valproate co-therapy, and provides a clinical example of stepwise multidisciplinary rescue management in relapsing disease.

- Reactive Infectious Mucocutaneous Eruption Following a Respiratory Infection in an Adolescent: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Aug; 18(8):e115443.C
- Reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption (RIME) is a recently defined mucocutaneous manifestation associated with respiratory infections, most commonly reported secondary to Mycoplasma pneumoniae. The core diagnostic criteria of RIME involve greater than or equal to two mucosal areas with erosive mucositis, minimal cutaneous lesions, a recent infectious prodrome, and exclusion of drug-induced e…

- Acute Hemorrhagic Edema in Infants: A Continuing Clinical Challenge. [Case Reports]
- We report a case of acute hemorrhagic edema in a four-month-old boy, which occurred following a viral respiratory infection seven days prior to his admission. The clinical presentation began with the appearance of erythematous macules initially localized to both feet, which then spread to both thighs. All of this occurred against a background of a fever of 38.5 °C, while the child's general condi…

- A protocol proposal for safe dental anaesthesia in paediatric patients with allergic backgrounds: insights from a case series of allergic patients. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Tailored prophylaxis strategies and the use of preservative-free amide-type anaesthetics were associated with uneventful outcomes in these cases. This structured approach highlights the importance of individualised emergency preparedness and interdisciplinary collaboration in high-risk paediatric dental procedures.

- Summary of Best Evidence for Wound Management in Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis. [Review]
- Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are rare but life-threate-ning mucocutaneous reactions characterized by extensive epidermal detachment and systemic complications. Wound management is central to survival and long-term outcomes, yet standardiz-ed care pathways remain controversial and in-consistently implemented. This study aimed to systematically synthesize the …

- The Use of Systemic Immunomodulating Drugs and Management Practices in Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis among Dermatologists in the Philippines: A Cross-sectional Survey Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The use of systemic immunosuppressants remains to be preferred in SJS/TEN treatment. However, treatment practices among Filipino dermatologists demonstrate substantial heterogeneity especially in complex cases. These findings highlight the need for stratified treatment frameworks and persistent uncertainty in SJS/TEN management.

- Atazanavir/Ritonavir-Associated Erythema Multiforme in an HIV-1-Positive Patient. [Case Reports]
- We report a case of erythema multiforme (EM) associated with atazanavir/ritonavir in a patient with HIV-1 infection. The patient was receiving tenofovir, lamivudine, and dolutegravir; however, owing to a supply chain issue, dolutegravir was substituted with atazanavir/ritonavir. The patient subsequently developed pruritic erythematous papules and plaques with characteristic target lesions over th…

- Mycoplasma pneumoniae-associated reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption (RIME) confirmed by multiplex PCR: a case-based review. [Review]
- Reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption (RIME) is a para-infectious syndrome characterised by prominent mucositis with limited cutaneous involvement, typically following a respiratory illness. Diagnostic uncertainty is common because RIME may mimic erythema multiforme and drug-induced Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN), particularly when antibiotics have been initiat…

- Real-world safety profile of alectinib: a 10-year pharmacovigilance study based on the FDA adverse event reporting system. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Leveraging a large pharmacovigilance database, this study comprehensively characterized alectinib's safety profile. It confirmed established signals and uncovered novel potential AEs needing further prospective research. Subgroup disparities and key monitoring windows were identified, deepening mechanistic understanding and supporting optimized clinical risk mitigation strategies. It should be noted that disproportionality analysis is used to detect potential safety signals rather than establishing causal relationships, and all identified signals require further clinical evaluation.

- StatPearls: Toxicodendron Toxicity [BOOK]
- Toxicodendron toxicity results from exposure to urushiol, a highly allergenic oleoresin found in poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, the Chinese lacquer tree, and other Toxicodendron species within the Anacardiaceae family. The genus as a whole is widespread throughout North America except for Hawaii and Alaska, and can have regional variations in appearance. While the genus and its many specie…
